Long story...neighbour had a small flood in the furnace room (I suspect it happend before, more on that later) and called an HVAC company. The technician hooked up his meter and told him he needed to replace his A/C unit, scaring him with one BS line after another,
1) The reading is too low, there is an internal leak, it's the old R22 system and refilling is illegal
2) The coils are frozen
3) May be the furnace filter's MERV rating is too high
4) May be someone can fix it for a couple of hundred bucks
Neighbour told the guy he needed to think it over and asked for my opinion.
This is what I found, unreal!
Due to poor basement reno decades ago, the utility room drain ended up in the finished area and they buried the copper pipe (most readily available during the reno I suppose) for drainage. I put in the temporary green tubing while trouble shooting the leak.
The underside of the copper pipe... (must have been leaking for a long time)

No way I was going to break the concrete and tiles, so with some spare parts from my junk collection and thinking inside the pipe, this is how I fixed it for him with minimum effort. There's a risk of the narrow pipe getting clogged but he's aware of it and it's easy to unclog. Anyone see something I may have missed?
I suggested that he invests in the inexpensive yet effective Govee water leak alarm system. It's good insurance and depending on his insurance company he may even get a premium discount. BTW, his A/C is still working! This week's heat wave is a good test.

Good looking out for your neighbor Canugghead! Nice work."The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

Thanks @WeberWho, over the years, for better or worse, some neighbours knock on my door whenever they need help

@Canugghead - Clearly known for being able to solve challenging issues. Way to step-up. He should buy you a year's worth of gelato at the new place you mentioned.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.

Thanks @lousubcap, haha no gelato but they do bring me treats occasionally.canuckland

Interesting about the no-see-ums. We have the same in Mexico, only they are in the water and their bites hurt a lot.poster said:
I was a couple hours drive north of the MN/ON border where the pic was taken. No-See-ums are starting now too. Those things can fit through a screen and itch the worst out of them all. I feel bad for all the animals. Hopefully things slow down very shortlyDoubleEgger said:

I always had to carefully de-tick in the early 90s when I was actively photographing in MN; removing/shaking off my coat/shirt/hat, and brushing/examining my pants/shoes/socks before I got back into the truck.poster said:If I didn't feed enough bugs this weekend, I am now pulling a tick off my side
Only got bit once. There's about a 2"-square section of your back that you can't reach with either hand, from any direction, and sure enough that's where the damn bugger was. Was thinking about going into Sick Call the next morning, but finally grabbed a pair of long-nosed pliers, and between having to use my left hand, and trying to see in the mirror looking backwards, I finally grabbed the thing and didn't have the patience to "pull straight out slowly" anymore, but he was summarily burned with a lighter. Ugh.
Had a boss at HAFB who lived in ID, and his neighbor got Lyme disease from a tick, ended up approaching insanity and committed suicide; not something to fool around with.“The best way to execute french cooking is to get good and loaded and whack the hell out of a chicken."

Messing with scammers who are trying to sell Balckstones on Marketplace. Finally got one to crack and start cussing at me. Most of them wouldn't take the bait but I had one scammer hook, line, and sinker after feeding him a bunch of made up lies. Good times."The pig is an amazing animal. Which one do you have? It’s really just the wife and I now. The others aren’t really here a whole lot anymore.Ozzie_Isaac said:

Thank you! What I do is super weird and niche. I’m surprised I’ve found so many opportunities to apply already for tbh.JohnInCarolina said:

I expect the course was true, but in the time since lift-off the winds caused the trail to look like that.Years ago I watched Apollo 11 lift off and after it was well on its way, the trail became a giant question mark.
