I was able to slip home for a bit this afternoon while nobody was home and take Otto out to play for a bit.  Man was he excited to see me.

Last day quarantining in the hotel, will head home tomorrow.  Feels like I'm safely on the other side of things, symptom-wise.  Hope y'all have a great weekend.
Glad to hear. btw, how's the view from the hotel room window  ;)
I have it closed because it seems the van outside belongs to the FBI:

When a B-I-L set up wifi for the in-laws, he legit named it “RCMP Spy Van”. (“RCMP” stands for Royal Canadian Mounted Police here in the GWN.)

@GrateEggspectations Do the high end RCMP's still wear the red dress coat when in uniform?

A limerick opening line if ever there was...

I shall not explore the circumstances of your encounter but am curious to know if she wanted more background about your frames of reference?

    In case the encounter did not last long enough, this may help;
    - Exeter is in Devon, on the south coast - it's along the bottom of the pointy left bit of England.
    - Nearby is another town called Torquay - known as the English Riviera, whose team is called The Gulls
    - There no such thing as a Seagull,  they are in fact Herring Gulls.
    - The nearest PL team to Exeter is Bournemouth, which is also on the south coast but further east.  It's 85 miles away and over here that's like forever away.   Neighbouring Bournemouth is Sandbanks, where real estate costs more than Hong Kong and New York.
    - Exeter has a very nice waterfront area with a big pub which extends back into the cliffs, and serves nice food.

    Here to help.
@CPFC1905 - I recall seeing a lovely hotel there on the telly over here,  across the pond. Place named Fawlty Towers =)

Did my two-year A levels stint in Bournemouth way back when, perhaps when you were a toddler, lol. The college was named Bournemouth College of Technology then and I think their football team was in 2nd division. Got to love studying for exams on the beach behind the campus.

Any merchants still observe the Lord's Day?

I'm more interested in if any of these merchants still have these prices.

Reading about the fall of Sports Illustrated (I was a subscriber for almost five decades but dropped it around 6-7 years ago).
Article linked here for any sports junkies:

I did kind of found it funny when they were busted last month for AI written articles by fake journalists. To the point where they even made a Bio for the fake journalist:

I think it was when they stopped offering the football shaped phone that their downfall was inevitable.

How did they screw with the Swimsuit issue?

It’s been more than a decade (maybe two) since I remember anyone talking about it, so I really have no idea.  It seems to me the issue became a lot less important once the internet got up and running.

Just throwing it out there to see what sticks. Honestly, I have never read Sports Illustrated. I don't follow sports except for watching my monster nephews progress into college football and my beloved 49rs which I usually watch one game a year where they blow everything they worked for at or before the big dance.  Hopefully tonight is the exception.

Even with the rise of the internet SI had very insightful articles regarding many aspects of sports (and not just the big four).  Below is a link to a great article about the home field and officiating written in January 2011.  Worth a read-

A little overcast today.  Decided to do a little pool maintenance, before the sun comes out and it gets too hot.

Watching espn for the first time in about 6 or 7 years at least. Finally got a streaming package in addition to Disney + and digital antenna. Other than espn, don’t really see the appeal so far. Nothing I wanna see on tv still.

I had ESPN and ESPN 2 with Verizon.  MLB Tonight was the only thing worth watching.  They played it in a loop 24/7.

I was bamboozled by a Breaking Bad 2 trailer a few months ago. I was like “No way!  This is awesome!” momentarily through it, then the trailer got more and more crazy and I realized soon it was a spoof. They got me. Seems like I have seen the Ocho pillow fighting thing at some point when I was at Buffalo Wild Wings.

Enjoying my news and sports viewing.  NFL (No Fun League) is prime time right now.  Syndicated shows and streaming series have no attraction here. I would be all over ala-carte program pricing but that is out there.
    Like bourbon-it is all personal.
Back to my regularly scheduled NFL programming.  And more Sunday.

I watched the 49er/Green Bay game this afternoon, finally figured out it was an old game when I saw Prof. Internet Researcher QBing for GB, but it was still more interesting than the live Texan/someone else game.  (I noticed NBC has a notice at the bottom of the screen all the time, saying if its a previous game; the NFL Network (free on EwetubeTV) doesn't do that; wish they would).

And, does anyone know where Burger King's corporate HQ is?  Their constant airing of that gawdawful out-of-tune singer commercial is driving me mad, and I have a van full of fertilizer I need to park somewhere; TIA.  :anguished:
