The answer to your question is a "no-brainer". Which one do you have no control over??Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -

I was doing a pretty good clip up the mountain road when we all saw a red light flash once - bright and quick - on the side of the road. Likely an automatic speed trap.
I have no idea how it will work given that it’s a rental. I suppose I’ll find out when I return the car on Sunday… -
Blizzard on for tomorrow, schools canceled and told to work from home.Finishing up another added bedroom to the basement, I’m not a good painter but do find it enjoyable enough that I would never pay someone to do it. Satisfying that you can always see what you’ve accomplished.

I ended up putting my last pair of Red Wings through hell and back. They became almost dangerous to wear as the soles were shot with zero grip. Not a good combination here in MN winters. The boots themselves weren't worth resoling. So they were tossed in the trash last fall. We've had a super mild winter here so far in MN. So I've just pushed any idea of getting a new pair of boots off to the side. That was until I realized I didn't have any boots and needed a pair this weekend. I just didn't have the time to do any real research or the time to have anything shipped in. So I did a quick look on Marketplace to see if I could find something just to get me through this weekend. Low and behold I found a pair of used Red Wing boots from someone on Marketplace. The seller had some wild reviews as most of her Marketplace business was selling items online. Buyers were split down the middle for her reviews. Some buyers were extremely pleased while others said they were sent the wrong shoes, wrong size, or nothing at all. So I knew I was in for a wild ride....
So I message this lady and let her know that I'm interested in the Red Wing boots and that I was local and wouldn't need to have them shipped. She said to stop over. So I stop over the next day at the time we agreed upon. I ended up waiting outside her house for 45 minutes before she responded back and said she was home now. The first red flag. So I go knock on her door. She opens the door and says, "Come in". I absolutely hate going into people's home when picking something up on Craigslist and Marketplace. I said I'd wait outside. She was insistent that I come in. (Second red flag) So I step into her house and she says follow me. Now I know I'm going to be chopped up and stuffed in a suitcase. So I follow her to the otherside of her house that leads to a staircase into her basement. She goes, "Come, come" (3rd red flag) I was like, "I'm good here." So she goes downstairs and starts yelling up to me in a heavy Jamaican accent. I'm trying to figure out what she is saying and me constantly looking around that I'm not going to get choked out from someone somewhere. Next thing I know this lady is hauling up something like 15-20 pairs of work boots up the staircase asking me if any of these were the work boots that I was looking for. They were not. At this point I realized this lady actually did have shoes and boots in the basement and not chains and skeletons. So I made my way downstairs. There were shoes and boots everywhere. Zero organization. I found a pair of Red Wing boots that were similar to the ones I was looking for but they were two sizes too big. So I just kind of gave up and told her I'm good. I was having trouble understanding what she was saying but she said something like, "Try those ones on." They were a pair of muddy and neglected Danner boots. At this point I'm like, "F-it. I just need a pair for this weekend and if they fit I'll call it good enough. They ended up fitting. I did a quick look and the soles and they looked brand new. She said, "Those are $30 but I'll sell them for the $20 that you were going to give me for the other boots." I said, "I'll give you $10." She didn't budge. She said, "Those are $290 boots new." At this point I wasn't stabbed or chained up so I gave her the $20. She started laughing when I was leaving. She says, "I've never had anyone not want to go downstairs before." I'm my head I'm thinking, "You let strangers go into your house and go downstairs in the basement alone with you?" A nice lady but yikes.
So I bring these crappy boots home and take a little better look at them. To my surprise they actually looked pretty nice but needed some real TLC. I don't know if they've seen much more than a long weekend in the woods. Pretty much just muddy and light wear towards the toes. So I did a quick wash to remove the mud last night. This evening I took some 1000 grit sandpaper and lightly sanded the toe of the boots just to entertain myself. I hit it with some leather conditioner after. I have to admit, the boots cleaned up really well. The laces and soles are like new. They haven't even been broken in yet! Not a bad deal for a $20 pair of boots!
I didn't intend to post pictures or write this until cleaning up the first boot. So I snapped a before picture with second boot. The before picture was after I cleaned them up and removed all the mud.
So for the rambling but maybe a few of you might get a kick out of the story.

Changed the chamber sealer vacuum pump oil. Moving the drain plug over the cart top edge worked way better than raising the corners on wood blocks, thanks to ewetube and Nola for the idea

We’re officially on a break. But it’s one of those breaks when only one half knows about it. After a frenetic December, the PL has its winter break, whereby ten teams miss a game week each, being this and next weekend.
Five games only and they are distributed to keep the broadcasters happy.
Friday.
Burnley v Luton, two wins in the last five have given the Hatters hope while Burnley still struggle. Given we’re over the half way hump this game is big. An away win puts seven points between these two. And because of that the hosts will give it their all. 1-1.
Saturday
Chelsea v Fulham, neither team especially compelling which amplifies the huge cost required to assemble the Blues. Ought to be a home win and if so it’ll be ugly and awkward. 2-1.
Newcastle v Man City, the seasoned petro-dollar gang face off against the young pretenders, and they will win at a canter because the safety first sensible consolidation method adopted by Toon has seen them come up short. OK, they may have played by the financial rules, but that’s not how we win things - is it? 0-2
Sunday
Everton v Villa, the Toffees have stuttered again albeit are better than their current 17th place. Villa though are still giddy as kippers up there in second place. Dyche knows how to thwart and frustrate and grind out the results. This will be one of those 0-0
Man Utd v Spurs, two teams vying for the Spursy Cup - but look, here comes big Jim Ratcliffe and his deep pockets to help Utd spend even more money in the hope of not finding more misfits. Frankly, I am only interested inc case any of the players ejected come the way of Palace in January or even the Summer. This game could finish 27 - 25. It could be 1-0 or 0-1. And so, 2-2 it is.
So until next week and the other half of the relationship secretly swipes left or right, it’s tally-ho from me.
Other girls may try to take me away
But you know, it's by your side I will stay -
Would love this to be in the pet thread, but apparently he (she?) is not up for a life in rainy England. Probably has the teeth for it, though.

I am feeling caught up, note this is just a feeling. Anyway, I think I am going to make some cutting boards to give to friends and family. Seems like a fun project.

@WeberWho Part way into that story I thought you were telling a joke and setting us up. Nice score on the boots, sometimes you gotta “go out of your comfort zone” to get a deal and happy you lived to tell the story. Now I’m kind of curious where she’s getting all the shoes/boots……..!?!?!

I wish I was telling a joke. It was a mess. Shoes everywhere in this old creepy unfinished cement basement. Overall she was a really nice lady but man did it feel super sketchy. I thought about asking her where she finds all her shoes/boots but I was struggling to understand her and what she was saying for portions of the conversation."The pig is an amazing animal.
