A bit sad.  Really looking forward to this particular shipment that was due to arrive today.

Did it get stuck in Phoenix? Every one of my packages somehow get stuck there.

Ha!  Yeah you and Phoenix have some issues.  Unfortunately it just says "on the way" without further detail.  Really hoping this didn't go via train through Los Angeles.

Something about that place doesn’t agree with me. Best of luck on getting that delivery soon.

  • Pulling together a statement of work for a research project with Sandia National Labs that looks like it will come through.  It concerns modeling the structural health and performance of their Annular Core Research Reactor that has been up and running since 1978.  It's still going strong, but they're trying to forecast how much more life it has.  Interesting problem, and a challenge to model with somewhat limited data and diagnostics.

Service life will be 30 more years, but they will not do anything different for another 50 years.

They have got to be nursing that along to get that longevity.  Gotta be low power research centered.  Guessing you are focused on the direct reactor structural and related components.
Reads like an EV driver trying to get to the next charging station and clearly the available power is low.   =)
    Best of luck.

Thanks man, what cut of the contract do you want for this?  50% ?  More? I might be willing to do more if you can throw in a  "get of jail in LV free" card.

If it was a Anular Core Research Reactor @SGH may have been able to offer his vast knowledge on the subject.  However I know that is ridiculous so I will chime in with some solid advice, if they kept the oil changed and greased it regularly it should last a lifetime.

Irradiation refers to objects receiving radiation
Irrespective refers to objects not receiving respect.

The deal is that you get them to agree to a $500k research budget and then say 12 years. You just gave them the answer for free. How do you think JIC pads his account at SRF.

  • Test fitting components.  A few changes and tweaks to make, but at least they fit!  Couldn't lift the wood fired oven up, but that just sits on top.

This is all looking pretty epic my friend.

Power still on (obvious) but running the gamut precipitation-wise today.  Started at 33*F and rain til early afternoon, then 32*F and the rain got confused...am I rain or freezing rain/sleet.  Nice sleet buildup (sleet won).  Now ice pellets (29*F).  At least no longer an ice accumulation event although the amount of ice buildup on the trees could be an issue over time.
Next time above freezing temp is Sunday PM.  Always a weather ride in the Ohio Valley.
Stay healthy and safe out there-

That's gotta be a really exciting day, seeing it come together!  :triumph:

Quick question: Is it your intent to wheel the Eggs indoors when not in use?  If not, why not build up a base for them and leave them in place?  I know for a fact that my clumsy Size-13.5's would be tripping over those protruding Nest casters constantly.

Nest is temporary.  I have some stainless steel pull out drawer/shelf combos.  I just couldn't wait to get and idea for how it all would look.  Still a fair bit of work. Tile, paint, plumbing, electric, etc, but I am chompin at the bit.
