Meh, still no PL as it’s the FA Cup 4th Round. except Burnley v Watford that had previously been   postponed due to Covid.     This a a relegation ‘six-pointer’,  the hosts are rooted to the foot of the table but just 3 points behind their guests. A home win drags the Clarets up two places or three and past Watford if it’s achieved with +3 goal difference.  But an away win boosts the rotten Hornets between 4 and 6 points above the other relegation contenders.  Lots to play for, so a nailed on 0-0.

As to the FA Cup the games to look out for are er, er, well - not many really. But Hartlepool visit Palace.  The visitors are known as the monkey hangers due to an incident a few (hundred) years ago when the locals were bemused by a primate that washed up on the beach . They drew the only logical conclusion that is was in fact a French person and so was summarily hanged.

Before I conclude, a special mention to the good ole US of A, or USNMT to give their full abbreviated title and an outstanding contribution to sh*thousery in sport this week.   Let the record simply show a 3-0 win against Honduras.  Choosing to host the game at Minnesota in January was probably just part of a rotation policy,  the prevailing -19C (66F) must have been a surprise to all.

Stay groovy and good riddance to January.

That's gotta be a really exciting day, seeing it come together!  :triumph:

Quick question: Is it your intent to wheel the Eggs indoors when not in use?  If not, why not build up a base for them and leave them in place?  I know for a fact that my clumsy Size-13.5's would be tripping over those protruding Nest casters constantly.

So I haven't watched a minute of American Hand-Egg in 6 1/2 or so years, but I came across a fun trivia question on one of my social media feeds.   I thought y'all would enjoy:

5 colleges/universities have produced a US President and a Super Bowl winning QB.  What are they?

" the prevailing -19C (66F) must have been a surprise to all. "

It was about -19C - but that is -2F.

Yeah, choosing where the US team plays its home games is a challenge.  Many US cities have more fans of Latin countries than they have US fans - Chicago being a prime example as they have a very large Mexican population.

So, when they were determining where to play the January home games they wanted:

    1) cold weather to offer a home advantage for US players (especially those who play for club teams in Europe) over Central American players

    and

    2) places that would have 90+% of the crowd cheering for the US.

They came up with Columbus, Ohio and St. Paul, Minnesota.

It strikes me that this sort of thing is pretty common.  Mexico plays most of their games in Azteca at altitude.  Bolivia play their games in La Paz at 11k feet altitude, etc.

I really enjoy seeing the updates on your build.  A suggestion, something this impressive really deserves a dedicated thread.

That is a good suggestion.  have a bunch of photos all through the process.  I might put together a stand alone thread this weekend.  They say we are 4 weeks out, but I suspect closer to 8.

Chuffed that this happened this morning:

A close up of the bench seat square tile installation. When those are grouted, water from the rain head shower will not get behind the seat

Had 15 of those tiles saved and they will be cut to fill the bottom on both sides of the shower

The smaller tiles will be used on the floor of the shower. Have similar tiles in the original master suite bathroom.

A sample of the old floor tile, cut to fit at the bottom of the two shower walls.

Just documenting which drain system was installed:

    Detail of the installed drain.

    Shower threshold detail.

The other old floor tiles will be cut to fit and added to the bottom of the shower on Monday, along with the floor of the shower, I hope.

I generally agree with #1, but really didn't in this instance.  Part of that was the extreme cold - I mean if you need to get special permission to allow players to wear additional clothing, that says something.  I'm also not so sure that it sends a great signal that we resort to that against Honduras.  Against Mexico, sure.  When we made Costa Rica play in the snow in Colorado, sure.  But Honduras?  We should be able to beat them handily wherever (optics for USSF about playing a home qualifier in front of a crowd where Honduran supporters outnumber US supports not withstanding).

Bigger problem is solving the attack.  3 games, 2 at home against lesser competition, and we managed 1 goal from open play.

I will be happy to not have to go through qualifying for another 7 years.

@Ozzie_Isaac - First drywall patch job ever. Used a small kitchen sponge, the ones that are green on one side for hard scrubbing and yellow on the other side. Dipped in fresh water, squeezed out excess water, and used the green side and the edge of the sponge to try to replicate the surrounding texture originally added using one of those sprayers connected to a compressor. It is going to get painted twice as you suggested before the final color goes on the wall. The patch is going to be behind a bed so it should be good enough when done.

Looking good!  Do a light primer first, paint out 12"+ past the patch, then look at it again  At that point it is easy to sand down and start again if the patched area really stands out.

Thanks @Ozzie_Isaac - hope I don't need to sand and start over.  The dolphin in the mosaic was purchased from the tile store. It was on a mesh backing. The rest of the design was done by our son. Those black pebble stones were added individually and they aren't flat.
