Case in point - why I'd much prefer the Kamado Joe model of just shipping the replacement parts and not having to rely on lawn furniture dealers who have ZERO incentive of helping you.

Unacceptable in my books. You should start a standalone thread on your journey. If BGE’s current model is resulting in wait times like this, then it’s time they considered new models for supporting their customers.

You must be new around here. @JohnInCarolina will be around to set you straight.

Playing the fun game of “is my kid sick from Covid or just normal, disgusting kid sick.” We did get our super accurate tests that Uncle Joe gave us, but I don’t know if I want to waist one. Trying to slang them in a shady parking lot deal in the near future.

I documented waiting over 6 months for a fire bowl and nobody gave a shvt… the vibe I was getting was quit bitching.

  • We ordered a sectional couch and waited 8 months to get 3/4 of it.  Two months of email updates and random phone calls on the final piece (Covid, trucking, shipping containers, leather shortages) I was told a variation of delivery dates and reasons for delays.  It finally dawned on me, and so I asked for the manager “can you find the piece at another store? Surely someone has it” the next day he called and said it will be delivered within the week.

anyway that’s about how the last egg warranty went, only it turns out the manager of the garden center was jerking me around, he never ordered the fire bowl and was just being a ass. I got a young lady on the phone and she had the part in a week. There is no incentive for the dealers to honor bge warranty so if they don’t see it as a loss leader you are at a loss.

Make sure the pieces match.  Friends had a split delivery on a sectional and there was clearly a dye lot variation. They returned the whole thing.

Good advice! We had a box cutter slice in one cushion and some road rash in a few other spots.  Warranty replacement  leather just showed up the other day and I will be sure to match it up before I call them out to sew it in.

  • My dealer only took 2 months to get the XL dome, when it cracked.  The Base took 8 months, and he said he was dropping BGE soon afterward.  Sold the XL, and moved on.  My KJ cracked a firebox, and they shipped a new one in 7 days. I sent pictures of the cracks, and that’s all Kamado Joe required!

Paid work finally done, kitchen cleaned up, dogs fed, horses fed, gonna stare at the cutting board while I enjoy some 4Roses.  Wish I lived closer to @nolaegghead.

My dealer handed me an XL firebox from their stock.  So far, been real happy with my new dealer.  Took 5 years to find a good one though.

@lousubcap - only flickered once.  I had the generator wired and ready but didn’t need.

After 2 days I think I’m pretty much done except for the small twigs

That's no fun but I'd put all that work in for a view like that!

The fact it is almost tipping off the edge of your board is really bothering me.  That is worse than a fork in the photo.
