Decided I’m taking the Texas job. It’ll be 3 -6 month ordeal with testing etc. But I’m ready for something different. The change to corporate has been an absolute cluster at only 2 weeks in and it’s one more head ache I don’t want and shouldn’t have to fool with.
so I’m biding my time . Keeping my head down and maxing out my 401k.
it’ll be a hell of a commute 7 hrs out there .. work 7 days off 10. Future boss is willing to accommodate that schedule. So I’m game -

Sad news my friends, no PL this weekend as it’s the FA Cup 3rd round. I had thought of preparing a highlights reel for you showing my outstanding accuracy and next-level insight in to the beautiful game, but there aren’t any.
A brief summation of the state of play though;
1 - the PL, big clubs are near the top and Everton are the only real outlier as they are some way short of their text-book 7th place. The real interest is whether Newcastle can buy themselves to safety. Realistically they need a minimum of 25 points from 19 games, from the last 19 they have eleven. Winning half of their remaining games will do it, especially if they beat the teams around them. Losing to Burnley and beating Man City is eye-catching but mathematically unhelpful.
2 - AFCON, 9th Jan to 6th Feb and sees a lot of PL talent displaced as the Africa Cup of Nations pulls in the likes of Salah, Mane, Zaha etc etc Usually a highly entertaining tournament.
3 - The transfer window. The fabled period when otherwise sane, rational humans that support football teams go bananas with other peoples money (in their head). Myriad press reports will link Player A with Team B on the basis of an unverified brand new Twitter account or forum rumour. It’s all highly addictive and rarely worthwhile. As per #1, Newcastle will do their best to spend 100’s of millions on players. (Remember they are not buying people, merely their registration to play football. Buying and selling people is largely out of fashion now for all but the most ardent colonialists). This month they’ll sign any player they can to stay up, next Summer it’ll be the same but to qualify for Europe (or get promoted back tot he PL) and the following year the same again to win the PL.
4- The FA Cup, see ‘faded glory’ in the dictionary. Up to the 90’s this was the big story every season. Then someone invented money and the PL steamrollered all before it. This stage is fun because, for example, Liverpool will play Shrewsbury on a pitch that probably has cows on it right now. the only vaguely interesting match this weekend is West Ham v Leeds. Expect a right tasty punch-up outside the ground.
Stay groovy co-kickists, see you same time same place next week.

And I do love the national cups in Europe. There's something special about seeing a Ballon d'Or winner playing on a high school pitch full of potholes. It reinforces the concept of relegation/promotion that allows all the fans of the small clubs to believe that their team is just a couple of seasons away from being in the top flight.
It will be curious to see which team makes the most insane move this month. With Woodward on the way out, and players reportedly unhappy, Man U is a real wild card where this is concerned.XXL BGE, Karebecue, Klose BYC, Chargiller Akorn Kamado, Weber Smokey Mountain, Grand Turbo gasser, Weber Smoky Joe, and the wheelbarrow that my grandfather used to cook steaks from his cattle

@lkapigian: Beautiful. What’s the occasion? Also, let us know how your smoked otter turns out.

@Botch I don’t have a proper vise so I clamp against the edge of the table when cutting dovetails.
