Celebrating England's advance to the Euro finals @lousubcap, @Eoin, @CPFC1905
Enjoyed the game, Denmark are a good team. Italy will be tough.
    Never in doubt.... ;)

Enjoyed seeing England so composed and confident, not just bulldog spirit and misplaced entitlement.   The crowd was fizzing.

Interesting to know what the Italians make of us, now.  Denmark were already a hot tip at the start and we seem to have improved each game.  Threats across the park, clean sheets and then winning from behind.  Just because previous Italy teams have won finals - does that mean this one will?

Hoping for a lot of back and forth run of play in the Euro final.  I expect possession to be around 50/50 but that could be just wishful thinking.  This definitely needs to get into ET for the enjoyment of the extra 30 minutes.

Agree.  I'd love to see 2-2 or 3-3 at the end of regulation and then a goal or two in extra time.  But I'm probably dreaming.  Finals tend to be low-scoring affairs.  And while I don't like seeing games decided on penalty kick shootouts, I also don't like seeing games decided on a single penalty kick - like yesterday.

I have often said that the referee in a soccer match controls the outcome more than any other sporting official.  The low scoring in general and the penalty kick make it that way IMO.

That penalty was coming anyway. They were tired and had to either let the faster, younger players run through and score or out muscle them and risk the penalty.

It'll be a terrible match and get worse after one team scores.   It'll perk up for a while if it goes to 1-1 but this a major tournament final.

Disappointed that neither of biff or minge made the top 25.   One the other hand thrilled that axe wound didn't.

As @Eoin wrote, this penalty seemed like it was coming.  That's pretty typical.  One analysis I read said that 90% of penalties end up being awarded to teams that are significantly dominating play in terms of possession and time in the opponent's 18 yard box.  So, in most cases, they reward the best team that is attacking and likely to score anyway.
