I agree. It got down to 91 yesterday. We was shocked that fall came so early this year. We don’t usually see those kind of low temps until mid to late November.fishlessman said:over the weekend, seems fall hit hard and fast

Thanks, Scottie. Dr said if I didn't quit I would lose my family, friends, job and die within a year. Then he looked at my blood test results and said I could bottle it and sell as cask strength.SGH said:

Day 78 sober here. Keep it up boss. It gets better. I learned this weekend that it is possible to watch SEC football, egg, and have real honest fun without bourbon. It’s definitely worth it. We do some significant time off every year. Our first “sober October“ lasted until Christmas and included ACL Festival and Thanksgiving with my crazy family. The festival was the most eye-opening. We have done it sober the 2 years since. It’s more fun, the music is better, I don’t miss anything standing in line for $10 beers or taking my 30th leak of the day. I shuttled all my adult kids around so they could have fun and took them out for midnight pancakes every night after the show.We still do long stints (we change it up every year) and have never regretted any of them. Makes it way easier to take it easy in between times too. We still drink more than recommended but we reign it in way more (and way easier) than we used to.Good luck and enjoy some amazing sleep and feeling awesome when you wake up

At the vet. I think my dog got bit by a rattlesnake.

@SciAggie
Right now just as basic as I can get. I'm using mom's old camera and a tripod with remote shutter to practice techniques and get used to using lightroom.
I haven't committed to a system yet..I have my heart set on the fujifilm x-t4, it's pretty simple to change settings..and the color science is amazing..
But my buddy at work and one of the dive shops is trying to talk me into the sony a6500..overall cost for housing is much more affordable and I can borrow lenses ....
I plan on purchasing a telescope and stacking software once I've commit to either fuji or sony -

Hopefully not. When my first Boxer was a pup I came back after a 4 hour errand and found her walking on 3 legs with the 4th paw swollen . The emergency veterinarian found fire ants in between her toes. Whe we got home she went in the backyard, backed up to the fire ant bed and pissed all over it.Ozzie_Isaac said:At the vet. Anyhow a lot of the time snakes give dry warning bites. I hope that was the case for your dog. -

Creamy potato soup in a (bread bowl not baked by me) on a rainy afternoon. My kitchen still smells of onion and garlic.

@kl8ton and @Gulfcoastguy we were walking past the horse corrals and Cruz jumped sideways and I saw the snake coiled up. I thought it missed him, so I took care of the snake while he went off and ran over to the horses and waited. When I called him back over he was limping. I shaved his foot and leg and didn't see a bite. It was a very small rattler so may be hard to see. I didn't see any blood or swelling, but he was tender and panting. Luckily we had a vet super close by and I took him immediately. They were just closing up, but since I pulled in while on the phone they agreed to see him.
They are running blood work and have anti-venom on hand, so they should be able to patch him up.
Update: Bloodwork came back showing signs of snake venom, and foot is swelling. We got here within 25min of the bite, so they think 1 vial of anti-venom will work. They have him on Benadryl (reduce negative reaction to anti-venom), pain meds, and anti-venom. Get to take him home in an hour. We will bring him back tomorrow for 1 more round of bloodwork to see how it is all progressing. All in all, we made a pretty good hand out of a bad deal.I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Rode my bike to Harbor Freight to get an airbrush and some welding rods. Swung by the grocery and picked up 23 lbs of beef for snack stick sausage...
I always meet interesting people and talk with them when I ride the cargo bike.... btw, weather is beautiful.

Then used the airbrush to experiment with this reactive paint. It is copper and actually will patina. Bought some copper sulfate to accelerate the patina. Just testing on some incense burner I picked up second hand for a few dollars. The end game is painting some pressed tin ceiling I bought for the spare bedroom/office.

Thank you! Luckily he is a big boned Aussie, about 10lbs bigger than his brothers. Vet had antivenin on hand and administered quick. His blood panel was not horrible, but was showing some effects on clotting and stuff. He is home now with a lot of meds. I will take him back tomorrow for another blood panel to see how he is doing. The swelling so far is minor, hopefully it stays that way.DuckDogDr said:
He usually avoids rattlesnakes, he wants nothing to do with them. This was a baby snake right in the middle of a dirt path hidden in the powdery dust. There were just two little girls playing right by too. Thankful it didn't get one of them.

Some of you folks laughed at my brisket cook in a hole a while back. Well I have bricked it out and been firing the mortar all day. Let’s see who is laughing tomorrow when I pull 10 pounds of smoked rectum out of my hole tomorrow 👍

@SGH My friend you have inspired me. I’ve rolled the idea around of building just such a pit. I admire your dedication to cooking fine food in the most primitive way. You are the only soul on the planet I would trust to cook rectum in a way that I would consider eating it.Please tell me you will serve it in a corn tortilla you ground on a stone metate and cooked yourself.Coleman, Texas

If you decide to dig a pit, go ahead and save yourself a lot of future trouble and brick it. Trust me on this one. The traditional “dirt pit” is for younger folks who do not have a bad back and knees.Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.
