Getting ready to put my first Bo Ssam pork butt on the Egg here in a little bit.  Also in the middle of a rosemary-garlic bread loaf cook.  It's going to be an epic meal at the JIC house today.

Lets us crash through finishing line together, sink the putt on the 18th and put the snuffer atop the chimney of the 2019/20 PL season.

Final round and three teams are fighting to avoid 2 relegation spots and the CL / European spots to be nailed down.   Some excitement then, but not a lot.  Al the game start at the same time - Sunday at 4pm.    Then the transfer window opens on Monday (woo-hoo!)

Arsenal v Watford : training ground neighbours meet with very different agendas.  The wretched Hornets are in disarray and all is gloomy.  Arsenal can’t be trusted an inch.   2-1 Gunners and cheerios to Elton’s lads.

Burnley v Brighton : zero purpose or interest. 2-0

Chelsea v Wolves : Super Franks men can secure CL with a point, Nuno’s can achieve European football with a win.  Conflict there but I think the blue see this home.  3-2

Palace v Spurs : Spurs have fallen on their feet because the need a win to get to Europe and Palace will comfortably oblige.  0-2.

Everton v Bournemouth : The Cherries have to win to stand any chance of avoiding the drop.  They wont on both counts.  1-1.

Leicester v Man Utd :  Ole’s men have all but secured CL football, Brendan and his gorgeous teeth have lost momentum.  If the screaming scrotum bags a hat-trick and so does Greenwood, or better still Martial - then I don’t care about the outcome because my FF team could accumulate the same points as last year.   And just for @Foghorn Jamie Vardy is way older than you think - Google ‘Albert Steptoe’   Hoping for 5-6,  likely 1-2.

Man City v Norwich :  Could be a total shellacking, might be meh.  Hedging my bets with a routine 3-0.

    Newcastle v Liverpool : no-one cares 0-2.

Southampton v Sheff Utd : as above 1-1.

West Ham v Aston Villa : Villa’s Hollywood ending,  they can and might well stay up.  The Hammers are on the beach and wont be remotely bothered either way.   Grealish et al have it all to play for.   Skinny 0-1 and the filthy Hornets are down. Yay!

So, to the slender minority of Eggers that read this - farewell for about 40 days.  Stay strong and together we’ll pull through.

But light is on the horizon as County Cricket re-emerges on 1st August - the gentlest form of competitive sport; wooly jumpers, 2 meal breaks per day, 4 days of awkwardness while 22 men try hard not to be better than each other, and, of course certainly no play in the rain or gloom.  Lovely.

Because of you I woke up this morning and read up about how all this works and got caught up in as much of the intrigue as a newbie can digest in one morning. I have to say...I’m hooked! So much fun and they really know how to crank up the drama. I love how Aston Villa “won” today by not getting relegated with a late goal! Drama All the way down to the last team in. Love it.

One question though- why does Aston Villa have the sexy girls from trucker mud flaps on their kit?

Not complaining. Just curious as to what led to that choice

@CPFC1905, thanks for that. It’s almost worth it that you signed off the Zoom meeting early last night to write it. Almost. I wish I had the confidence in Man U that you do. But I don’t. I’m thinking they’ll tie Leicester 1-1 in a boring affair. I’m hoping for the 4-4 draw we discussed for the sake of you fantasy team, but I just don’t see it happening. I am also thinking that Man City are over their “we’re second but we want to show people how prolific we are before the season ends” period. They’ll probably be hung over as they see the end of the season and some rest in sight. I’m thinking 1-0.
Pretty much as we predicted, @Foghorn ?

Yep.  You definitely pegged the Man City performance better than I did.  They took the opportunity to pad their stats.

@The Cen-Tex Smoker, it's good to have you on the football train.  Welcome aboard.

Choosing a team on the basis of their kit is a well established gateway drug.   Generally a team chooses you,  meaning it's irrelevant who they are but you are inextricably drawn to them on an emotional level.
Being devoid of emotion, i.e. a bloke - that was not necessary for me because gateway drug #2 is 'your big brother's team'.
Generally we encourage people to pick rubbish, obscure or niche teams - if they are in the market for choosing.   Changing teams is verboten and will lead to significant  levels of opprobrium.

@The Cen-Tex Smoker  if you like relegation - just look at the Championship promotion system which culminates in the most valuable football match in the world.

Choosing a team based on a solid bird representation in their logo is also good practice, but the canaries were dreadful this year.  My son's fav are the cherries, and I was pulling hard for them to stay up.

Due to heavy rain, no cooking today. However I did treat myself for doing good and remaining steadfast on the diet. On Sundays I reward myself so I don’t get burned out on the diet. 3 years ago this month I was 263 and growing. Today I’m a ready 185.

Good work brother! I’m down 10 to 200. At least moving the right direction.

Weight loss- My not so secret way to lose weight-manage the calories ( I know some are "better" than others). About 19 months ago after my first total hip replacement that really limited my life for a while, I decided that I had a binary choice, either eat the same and drink less or go with eat less and drink the same.
As most would guess I opted for the second route.  Have been down 40 lbs for better than a year and no end-point change in sight.  I dropped a lot of weight a few decades ago and cranked up the exercise routine.  That worked til the friggin body said no more.  So now the new reality.
Find what works for you-no fad required.  Just  a mindset and behavior change.  FWIW-

Well said cap! I’ve always thought - exercise for health, reduce calories to lose weight. A 1000 calorie meal is easy to achieve. A 1000 calorie workout is insane.

Many of my intranetz friends have mentioned the "Quarantine Fifteen", the 15 lbs they've gained so far.  My "isolation" started a month earlier (when I retired) and I've lost 15 lbs!
I attribute that to the fact that I cook for myself now, a reasonable amount of food, not the one to two pounds of stuff my beloved lunch places served up (and most who are now out of business  :s ) while I was still working.
What's killing me is not being able to go to the gym.  I need to work up a home exercise plan, and stick to it.
