JohnInCarolina said:Looking at flights that will get me to Kobe in March for the COMPSAFE 2020 meeting. The good news is that I’ll get to visit Kobe for about a week. The bad news is that I need to fly in an airplane to get there.
The itineraries are pretty terrible. At least 15 hrs in the air. Yuck.Visalia, Ca @lkapigian -
Watched one of those cooking shows awhile back where they were making chicken fried steak. Pretty sure it was Texas based and I filed that thought away for another day. Decided today would be a good day to try something new.
Not as tender as I had hoped for but can work on that next time. Gravy is always a hit or miss for me but was actually a hit tonight.

The payoff. So good.

@Botch the old girl doesn't have the speed to catch them anymore. The youngster I'll be keeping a close eye on.
My real worry is about duckcat entertaining himself while I'm gone. But on the bright side. He's gotten spoiled lately and wants to come in at night and hog half the tempurpedic -

Just saw this on the news:

Shanghai used a bunch of computer-coordinated drones as their 2020 NYE celebration (the video shows they did finish with conventional fireworks, wasn't mentioned on TV).
God knows how much this system cost, but it could be reused and avoids a few problems: pets going berserk, vets with PTSD doing the same, accidents and fires, and pollution (if there's no breeze, I can have a sore throat for 2 days after the 4th/NYE). Pretty cool.___________"When small men begin to cast big shadows, it means that the sun is about to set."

Oh yeah, coordinated drones have been around for awhile, it was just the first time I thought about them replacing fireworks, for the above benefits.

The props can chop off fingers and put out eyes like red-ryder bb guns so I think they can be fine replacements for fireworks.
