@YukonRon. I hope you are taking (or took) the official “underground” tour of the colosseum. Being inside where they explain how they flooded the arena, moved exotic animals silently throughout it, prepared the gladiators for “entertainment”, all the while knowing this is where thousands have lost their lives is an amazing and powerful experience.
Rome as a whole is utterly fascinating. Hope you are loving every minute of it.

Not bad local wines either....
We are exploring the 7 hills, one at a time...we did and exactly that.
We have been enjoying wines from Vesivius, unreal quality.
It has been a blast thus far....no doubt.

@YukonRon the gelato winner for me is the pistachio.  That is a major concession as I am a hard over fan of anything chocolate but give it a go if you like pistachios.  Thank me later.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.
  • Heating up smoked chili I made last week and brought for the holiday travel and a mix of jalapeño cheddar and cheddar brats for dinner. May not be a pleasant house later.

Not sure about a medium, but I replaced my large last summer for $120. So I would assume $80-$100.

Cool. I might swing by the mothership tomorrow if I remember. I’m tired of constantly messing with that stud bolt that the spring attaches to. Got a little Christmas cash burning a hole in my pocket.

Hope you’re having some fun @YukonRon. Haven’t been to Rome in years, but hope to go back before too long. The only downside of the trip was the photo radar speeding tickets I received in the mail weeks later.

My high-school band trip in 1978 was through Europe, and I STILL remember the amazing gelato in northern Italy!   :)

I'm getting annoying vertical lines on my new (fired up for the first time but I bought about 5 months ago) projector.

I still need to play around with it but I'm thinking it's defective.  Yeah, I know the keystone, etc needs to be adjusted...I don't have the screen permanently mounted yet, just hung on the forklift so I could move it around.

It's a Viewsonic PX700HD.  1080p native, 3000 lumen.  if anyone has seen this before and knows anything, let me know please.

I know it looks small but that's an 8 foot horizontal screen.  I will probably not run the metal halide lights when I'm serious about a football game.  I need to aim the floods on the lift more down and I think I should be good.  Also putting a chromecast on it to use for documents (repair manuals, etc.)  I had all this stuff before just sitting around, so why not use it?

The first thought I had when I saw that you had mounted your projector on top of your lift was what a handy thing that could be to project a service manual on a huge screen.

Only half way through the Christmas turkey and the next round of matches is upon us.  Liverpool are stretching in to the distance so we look in the margins for excitement; can Arteta save Arsenal, how long til Pellegrini gets the heave-ho, has the Howe bubble burst and (hopefully) Watford are just a dead cat bouncing and will be doomed.

    Sat 28th

Lunchtime : Brighton v Bournemouth  Both struggling for form, expect a fractious encounter as both need at least a point. 1-1

    3pm

Newcastle v Everton : Newcastle are still misfiring but Everton are unbeaten in four, now with Ancelotti at the helm. Could go either way, but the Toffees can edge this 0-1

Southampton v Palace  :  The hosts have struck form and enjoy winding up Palace talisman Zaha.  They’ll fancy it and the Eagles have injuries galore, but 1-1 seems likely. (Also, look out for my brother in the crowd)

Watford v Villa : 2nd and 3rd worst in the league face-off.  Watford have avoided defeat twice in a row - a season high,  Villa need to repeat the defeat of Norwich.  Won’t be pretty but I think Villa can do it. 1-2.

Norwich v Spurs : Looking gloomy for the Canaries, Spurs are making hard work of things but are finding form.  Couple for Kane and a comfortable 0-3 away win here.

West Ham v Leicester : Not going smoothly for the Hammers, manager sacking can’t be far off.  Foxes got despatched by City and Liverpool after only drawing with Norwich , dispelling their cheeky imp bravado of challenging for the title.   Routine 2-0 away win here though.  Implosion at West Ham directly after.

    Tea time

Burnley v Man Utd : Tram going in opposite directions.  Dyche’s chaps are not the force they once were and Ole is getting a sense of rhythm back for Utd. A strolling 2-0 for Utd if they turn-up and turn-on.

    Sun 29th

lunchtime : Arsenal v Chelsea - probably come few weeks early for Arsenal to genuinely fancy a home win, Chelsea are fragile but the Gunners more so.  0-2 Frank’s blues.

    1630

Liverpool  v Wolves : underestimate Wolves at your peril, but Liverpool are flying.  A clean scent against Leicester was a bones for the Reds and they’ll want the same here, a tidy 2-0

    Tea time

Man City v Sheff Utd : A closer match likely than predicted pre-season.  City seem to be over their wobbles, albeit the title is out of their grasp in reality.  They are not totally water tight at the back so 2-1 feels about right.

    That's unfortunate.

I am looking to put new bands on my L. I am going to try to warranty my base because the ceramic glaze came off where it stuck to the rubber pads in the nest.  I am also wanting the new nest handler.  I want to do this all at once.  I may try for some ACE rewards deals to pull this all together.

I have been here a few times with work for R&D, conferences, etc., but never with my beautiful wife, and never had a lot of time to do things.

I had been building a list of interests to pursue once here, and thus far we are about on number 12 of 16,000,012.

We will be coming back here a bit more often in the next 3 years, and maybe we will be able to hit deep into the list.

We are having a blast. The folks here are very welcoming and very friendly. This is a destination I recommend to anyone that loves history, food, art, culture, beaches and mountains.

Do your homework. Worth the blood, sweat and tears.

I have had it everyday I have been here, a couple times per day, a different flavor every time, and I can tell you, The least liked flavor I have had, not only was better than anything I have ever had, but it was excellent as well.

    Tonight - Banana Chocolate.

Oh yeah, they fill the cone with either white or dark chocolate before adding the gelato, then they add whipped cream.

    2 euros.

I am going to be fatter³ by the time I get back.
