Nice @lit. Spent the day doing the same. Walked out on the signing table here. The search continues.
That sucks. I spent a week looking online and it’s sad there’s not a lot of good options for used accords here. I walked the lot yesterday and narrowed it down then went back this morning and test driove a couple but I knew what I wanted. Got them to $260 from where I wanted them to be on the car then got them to come up $750 on the trade in so I went for it. The finance guys are scum bags. Tried to sell me on the first package and I told him I don’t want anything just the car. Said he had to run through them all anyways and then tried to push every one. He gasped that I didn’t want GAP insurance. I had figured out what my payment should be and all the numbers he had on the screen were like $100 more a month. He could tell I was pissed and asked where the basic payment was and it was in the top corner of the screen away from all the payments he showed. I can’t believe people fall for all that crap. The good thing was they had a special going on certified Honda’s for financing they actually beat my credit union by .7% they had 2.99% financing on a 2016.
We got told the same "I am sorry, but South Carolina won't let us sell you gap insurance" . We were putting down 40% of the total cost...

I’m going to be a little bit honest here, I had to google that.
Basically they are treated like adults from 15 months old. Both kids were fully potty trained before 2 and using adult toilets (If I leave the training toilet in the bathroom my boy will stand up and use it like an adult and he turned 2 in January). My daughter was reading before 4 just short words and she’s 4 and 2 months now and she can sound out most 4-5 letter words by herself. She’s already doing basic math and will be doing multiplication before she goes to 1st grade so it’s better than any car. Unfortunately a full day runs about $1200 a kid per month.

We looked into Montessori but didn’t like the stories we were hearing from friends with children there about how they discourage creativity - no make believe costumes at Halloween parties for example, have to dress as doctors, scientists etc (eyes rolling) - the kids are expected to behave like adults and are treated as such. It sounded a bit too Tiger Momish and we didn’t want little Chaucer reciting robots missing out on their childhood.. Not sure if that’s just a local chapter thing or what.  Did you experience any of that kinda stuff?

  • When I financed vehicles it was always “what do you want your payment to be” that’s the most infuriating question. I want the cheapest price I can negotiate and the best interest possible.

100% no characters for sure but they encourage creativity just productive creativity. My children are at an even more strict Montessori it’s AMI certified which the teacher have to have an extra years training that is 5 days a week for a year that cost $10k. At their age we didn’t find a lot of options it’s either daycare or Montessori and I’m happy with the results so far. I really think children are capable of a lot more than most parents give them credit for. My boy turned 2 last month and I’ve been practicing swimming with him since about 6 months but I can throw a ring into the pool now and he can jump in and get it a foot or 2 under water and swim back to the edge and get himself out. He can’t get his head up to take a breath yet but he’s right where my daughter was she was officially coming up for breath at 2 and a half and at 4 she can dive down and get rings off the bottom of the pool at 7’ deep.

It's interesting because we've had both girls in Montessori schools here since they were in kindergarten, and the experience appears to be fairly different.

Really for us I've only seen two key differences:

    1) they mix grades together
    2) kids are allowed to learn at their own pace

There is definitely a style to the teaching as well but I wouldn't say they discourage creativity at all, just the opposite.

I knew it was a great system when the seven year old came home one day and told me that if the f-word was spelled with a d it would be a duck.  Yep, thanks kid.

This use to be part of my front yard. Rained 4 straight hours. News said 1”-1.5” per hour. Creeks couldn’t take it so it overflowed. No family members hurt but tons of property destroyed. The culvert is still intact but once it drys I will bring in new dirt and rock to fill it back in. Always some kinda BS going on.

I have to own up to eating veggie yesterday. Haloumi and mushroom burger for dinner at a Turkish cafe and curry for tea at a well recommended veggie Kerelan restaurant. Service was slow though, so too hungry to get pics when the food arrived!

It was always dinner and tea when we were kids as well. I still have a long a in some words as a throwback to London living, but that's so long ago now it's nearly gone.

We have seen plenty of tiger parenting going on with kids ours have grown up with. Kids that are pushed hard and are brilliant at primary school often seem to fall back again later. They find their own level in the end.

Yep two weeks ago we getting one egg a day, now we are up to 10!
I was in the same situation.  These birds are my nature’s clock and tell me when to do things. This time of year,  the increased egg production signifies the days are starting to get longer. Result: time to cut back all the ornamental grasses and Hellebores and then go get lawn seed. Spring outdoor chores are about to begin.  I could tell that by looking out the window, but the birds remind me of that better then noticing the days are getting longer.

Got a new to me car today. Been driving my 2005 Honda Accord till the wheels fall off and was finally over it. Found a 2016 Accord exl with 28k miles on it and fully loaded. Back and side backup cameras, heated leather seats, touchscreen, remote start, and sunroof. 2 and a half hours at the dealership from start to finish.
Great looking car! We have a 2010 accord 4 cyl with 100k on it that has been bulletproof. Only thing I don’t like on the 2010 is the front seats, they have an awkward hump in the back that is pretty uncomfortable on longer trips. You will enjoy yours!
