Had my first taste of mint cookies and cream ice cream this weekend.  My first taste turned into my first pint.

I haven't had any ice cream in a long time, and this made me totally rethink my entire existence.

This really is an insane haul from a school auction.  This was seriously *one item* they were auctioning off?  That's at least a grand worth of booze.

Had to go downtown for a court appearance, along the way passed a group of full grown young men standing in front of a bail bondsman shop dressed as various animals. That must be one hell of a story.

Yikes, the weekend has come around quick.  It only feels like Tuesday but we have another round of PL matches today and tomorrow.

Last weekend’s set generated little excitement.  The media darlings of Liverpool and Manchester meted out a bore-draw during which most of the Utd players lost interest and just wandered off the pitch.  Likewise Spurs capitulation to Burnley was unsurprising and simply sapped tension out of the title race.

Cardiff just got a right learning off Watford, but Everton are a different proposition. Mysteriously they are safe(ish) in mid-table but that's scant return for massive spending in the Summer.  Shipping five last weekend will provoke a reaction by Cardiff, so a battling draw seems probable - especially as it would keep the pressure on Southampton for the third - and relaistcally only available, relegation spot.  1-1

Already doomed Huddersfield welcome the sashaying Wolves.  Routine 2-0 home defeat for the sunk Terriers.

The workers collective called Leicester have achieved the annual target of getting the manager sacked.  6 defeats on the spin and its au revoir Claude, as it was Cheerio to Craig and Ciao to Claudio before that.  And if Kasper Schmeichel does not live in a volcano stroking a white cat while laser-ing secret agents I would be astonished.
So - Brighton visit the home of Balti tonight.  They are in dire form while ‘off the leash’ Foxes will scamper on to the pitch like reprieved prisoners. Feels like a home win : 2-0.

The ‘Toon despatch Huddersfield on Saturday (no news there) but its the red rose side of the Pennines that visit tonight, with very much in form Burnley paying a visit. Wholly different outcome expected this time.  Don’t let league position fool you, Dyche’s men have hit their straps and will win this 1-0.

    Big set of matches tomorrow;
Arsenal are stabilising in the top 6, with Bournemouth hopeless on the road - another stuttering home win for the Gooners. 2-0.

Southampton host the evaporating Fulham.  They should win, but self-doubt has returned amongst Saints. A win, and benign outcome at Cardiff will see them out the bottom 3.  Should be a shoo-in, but its a test of temperament against Fulham that have nothing to lose by having a good crack at it.  Tense 2-1 to Saints - but 1-0 to Fulham would spice things up no end.

Chelsea v Spurs has arrived a bit late in the calendar.  Both teams, this weekend, become the epitome of themselves.  Chelsea's players have disengaged (again) and Spurs blinked.  A couple of season ago this was a barn-storming thriller,  tonight it won't be.  All and any result is possible but that's becoming increasingly irrelevant for both teams. Spurs are almost certain of 3rd, Chelsea will hope to get 5th but are heading in to turmoil with players openly hostile to Sarri and a transfer ban looming. Hopefully a fun packed 4-4 draw.  I suspect 0-0 more accurately sums things up, though.

A unique sensation for Palace is welcoming Man Utd to fortress (OK tatty and hidden in plain view) Selhurst Park without assuming a routine drubbing.  Utd are carrying a long injury list and have Europe on their minds.  Still capable of easing past their hosts but Ole is really being tested as a top manger now.  Palace have strung together a strong set of results in 2019 and smashing Leicester 4-1 was no surprise.  For once, Ole might park the bus and accept a point.  Palace need a team who press against them to play on the break.  Draw stamped all over it. 1-1.

Liverpool need to beat Watford and they might - but they have struggled to put games to bed recently with draws harming their title bid.  Watford are an unsavoury bunch and will think they are football geniuses after smacking 5 past Cardiff.   I want a solid 3-0 home win but can’t trust either of these two teams. 1-1.

Man City are easing in to top gear again after their uncomfortable journey down to 2nd in the league.  I just don’t see them blowing up against West Ham, even if Fernandinho is out.  They have the prize in their eyes now. 2-0 because putting pressure on Klopp is too irresistible.

I’m off to find my budgie smugglers - its 20 degrees (70F) in February.  This time last year the trains gave up because of snow, this year it will be buckled rails in the heat.

Leave for work at 6am.  At 7:30am I get a text from my wife and the power company - Lost power. ETA for it to be fixed comes in at 9 am saying 3pm. Then throughout the morning I get other updates: 4,  5, 7 then the 9pm ETA comes in at 1:00 pm.
2 hours of silence. Maybe 9:00pm will be the time.
Got a surprise text from the power company saying it was on at 3. Whooohooo!!
Wife gets home at 5 - no power. PECO lied.
I make 2 stops I HAVE to make on the way home that I did not want to make. Get home in the dark, change clothes, empty the fridge to milk crates and put outside since it is 34F.  Pull out the generator. Realize I have no gas.  Go get 10 gallons. Put in a gallon.  Go to pull the starting cord- it breaks.  I spend 40 mins and fix that.  It starts right up on the first pull.  Go to get extension cords and as I reach for them power comes back.

    Ugh.....

    Mondays really suck sometimes.

I had a couple slices of lonzino and some hard cheese. Once I put the generator away and reloaded the fridges, I made popcorn.
It was a well balanced meal.

I wedged a piece of wood behind broken piece so it would sit flush with the rest of the firebox. It cooked fine last night. I'll call my dealer this morning to see what my options are.

We have had a couple of days in the 80’s already. Kind of makes me wonder just how bad the summer is going to be this year. Normally February is our coolest month. Not so this year.
