    Stag's

I like the Artemis and Fay a lot. I want to make it through everything they offer eventually

That’s what I figured, I’ve never had the Stags, it’s the Stag’s that gets all of the attention.  My FiL held onto a case of Artemis a little too long in the wrong conditions and we had to dump it. That sucked.

Black is my favorite. Not a big fan of the blue and it’s quite pricey to boot. It’s solid blended scotch IMO. 🥃

My two favorites as well! Caymus was the last thing I drank before giving up the booze on Thanksgiving day. I’m going to give my system a well-deserved break.

Picked up another Kentucky Spirit and a 10yo Basil Hayden’s. The 10yo Basil intrigued me. It’s ok but not demonstrably different from the original. While there, the owner notified me he had Joseph Magnus Cigar blend coming in today. I came back later and bingo! I’ve been wanting this bottle for a couple years. 🥃

Wow, definitely unique! The nose was like a butterscotch bomb initially. The palate is also unique. Seems to follow the nose for me. Heavy sweet butterscotch is what I get. Interesting to say the least. Cheers!🥃

Did you crack open the Cigar Blend by chance?   Would like to hear your thoughts on that one, they have a few bottles on the shelves here.

@TechsasJim I’ve been told by several to buy it if I see it so I did. I do enjoy cigars and was gonna wait til the weather improves next week, but I’ll crack it tonight. What the heck. 🥃

Good deal, thanks for this!   I enjoy cigars as well but with this crazy weather we have down here (going to be well hotter than usual) I may wait a bit for the 'cool' front.

Thanks again and looking forward to hearing your opinion of it.

Ok, so the cigar blend jos magnus. The nose screamed out the finished notes of cognac and sherry. First sip was hit with orange peel. Went back to the nose and was much different. I assume it’s the Armagnac finish. Having never tasted the stuff I can only guess. There’s a lot going on. It’s a heater at a tic under 130 proof but drinks closer to 100-110. Second sip gave me a hug but it mellowed out as I drank it. I added a few cubes which would probably be my take on this one and it drank dangerously easy for the proof. It is a heavily finished bourbon. I really look forward to enjoying a cigar with it but won’t be this week. If you like finished bourbons, which I do, it’s a big time winner. If you aren’t, you might want to try before you buy. I’m a big fan of the finished bourbons. They fuse my love of wine and whiskey in a pleasant manner. The Bardstown fusions and finished offerings are great to me. As I drink it it only gets better. I fear it drinks too easily for its proof and price point. 🤣 I’d buy another. Cheers🥃

Way more going on. That Armagnac finish is really unique. The sherry and cognac of the regular bottle is fairly tame compared to the cigar blend. Night and day I’d say. Again, I’m a fan of a well finished bourbon so this is a home run for me. I think it’d be a hit for most though. It drinks closer to 100 than 110 IMO. I’ve had some swings and misses but this ain’t one of them. As you all know these things are at least somewhat subjective. I’ve tasted a few pours though. 👍🏻

    Sweet!
If you haven’t tried the Remus reserve it’s a must buy. Some of the best bourbon out there. I have the 3 and 5 offerings. If you enjoy that Remus you will be blown away by the reserve bottling. Cheers!🥃

@pgprescott boom thanks for this.   I need to get off this thread or I’ll be bourbon poor (or pour, whatever).
