Feels like -30. I put my wife's car in the battery tender last night. Only time will tell to see if my truck starts.

As an Alaskan I can verify that -20 is getting there on the cold scale. We used to have ski practice in -10 to -15 but no wind and obviously exercising. Extended periods of -30 suck and anything beyond that is getting ridiculous. We had -55 and they still didn’t cancel school but some buses didn’t run and they didn’t count it as an absence if you didn’t make it.

Reminder to exercise caution with your four-legged critters in extreme cold temps.  Particularly if they are traversing exposed pavement.  That can get impact their paws in short order.

Our county cancelled school today because it’s 20 degrees with a “real feel” of 9

I'm old enough to remember when "too cool for school" meant something else entirely.

It's a balmy 18 degrees here right now in West Texas.  Luckily we don't have any of the moisture.  Just the wind and arctic temps.  Never thought I would say this, but summer can't get here quick enough.  I am over this foolishness.

Most schools were closed today. I know with our kids who live within 5 miles of schools aren't offered bussing. So they need to either walk or find a ride. I know that plays a pretty big roll on school closures. Plus it's so easy for school to flip over to, "e-learning" when needed.

Our local schools are closed today.  Growing up we had a 100 yard driveway, I can recall walking past bedded moose, watching the northern lights, hearing the trees cracking it was so cold.  Honestly its probably better they cancel school for the day.  My nephew is a junior and only has two classes he attends anyway, hes home by 10am most days.

Putting any serious concerns aside, being snowed in and hosting the neighbours for gumbo sounds like a pretty nice evening.

@ColbyLang I would hate to clear a brick walkway, that would suck. Especially if you had a square shovel for the garden, not a snow shovel.

Snow has stopped. Power is good. Water pressure a little on the low side. Tonight is when the drama will unfold. Temp gonna hit 9°F. Windchill -10.

There ain’t a snow shovel to be had here. Square nosed flat shovel. PS, the snow sticks to the metal shovel head

When snow is light and fluffy, a leaf blower works for snow removal.

There’s no such thing and light and fluffy snow in the South. It’s always the wet mess.
