Most have the option to work during summer and significantly increase their yearly salary. The base salary increases very fast with years of service. It is a lifestyle choice.
First of all, during the months they teach, their nights and weekends are often taken up with grading. I can’t speak to all teachers and how they used their summer time, but the ones I know would also “work” on their teaching in the summer, either by developing lesson plans or by taking additional training.
The ones I knew then and know now have not gone into teaching for the “lifestyle” because the lifestyle actually kind of sucks.____________________Entrepreneurs are simply those who understand that there is little difference between obstacle and opportunity and are able to turn both to their advantage. •Niccolo Machiavelli -

But obviously, with the burnout rate as high as it is, the lifestyle isn’t all that great."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike -
I submit that the lifestyle has changed in major negative ways in the past few decades as teachers have been expected to take on a whole lot more parenting since many "parents" know they can ignore basic family lifestyle responsibilities. But just an opinion based on limited observations...Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Been reading a lot of letters to the editor at Washington Post; their new owner Bezosebub nixed the Editorial Board's recommendation to indorse Harris, and paid subscribers are cancelling right and left. Not sure yet what I'm going to do...

Stillwater, MN -
While my laptop was recharging I glanced into facebook via iPad/magic keyboard, and saw an ad to resubscribe to WaPo for only $19/yr or something like that. That didn't take long! I tried to take a screenshot of it to post here, but couldn't remember how to do it on iPad (I've since learned; even though my MK has Cmd-Shft-5 right there, on an iPad/iOS I have to press the Power and Up Volume button simultaneously (yeah, that's really intuitive... buying this iPad was a mistake, for me).
Anyhoo, I went to the WaPo website and clicked on "Manage my subscription", and I had prepaid for a year, it was to expire next March, so I clicked "Cancel" (and thirteen nanoseconds later, Apple Mail chimed that I had an email from WaPo, what are the odds?!?!! ) My "message" to Bezosebub has been sent.
I have five more months of WaPo access, and in that time
a) the election will be done,
b) Civil War 2 may have begun, and hopefully finished,
c) Bezos will have sold WaPo to r. murdoch (I've seen unconfirmed rumors the offer has been made already)
and
d) I can then decide whether to resubscribe, or visit Italia* for those $10 villas they were selling.
*I realize Italia's government has changed, last time I checked, 61 times in the last 63 years, and is humid, so it may not be much of an improvement. But, they also have a couple USAF bases for me (gym/commissary/medical care), warm temps, mountains, and abundant veggies/seafood/cheese/wine.___________"When small men begin to cast big shadows, it means that the sun is about to set."

Check your « corner gestures », mine was setup to take a screenshot when swiping diagonally from the bottom left corner toward the middle of the screen. How to take screenshots using corner gestures
If you're using the latest iPadOS software (anything above iOS 15), you have access to a hidden feature that can be great for taking screenshots. It's called Corner Gestures.
To enable this feature, go to Settings > Multitasking & Gestures. Then, enable the Swipe Finger from Corner feature, and in the Bottom Left Corner or Bottom Right Corner boxes, choose the Screenshot option.

Wow. I just set a new personal record on EweTube, over 2,500 "likes" and over 100 "replies", to a video post from "The Lincoln Project":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlsd1wZ9jF4
I first replied to the video thru my ad-blocker "Swizztube", I didn't see my reply posted, so tried it directly on EweTube. An hour or so later my googlez email just started ringing off the hook. Read thru a few of the Replies, only saw two from the MAGAts. Most of my comments to TLP videos get a few likes, and maybe a comment or two; no idea why this one exploded like it did.
EDIT: My first post was thru SwizzTube (my ad-blocker), where my handle is Botch90218 or something like that, it didn't show up; my second post was on EweTube direct (ad-blocker disabled), handle ScottBoettcher8675309 or something like that, it didn't show up either). An hour later when my notifications blew up, I logged into EweTube and saw both my original posts, guess there was a delay or something.
