Since I really need it, I finally ran for the first time my large laser engraver/cutter. PITA. It wouldn’t run on a mac. Dusted off an old windows box and installed, played around with a few materials, varied burn rate and power, did some research. Learned a lot.

still need to check the house. 100 mile commute this morning, snow, ice, and water covered ice on bridges this morning, 75 mpg gusts. at 70 mph i had to use my thumb AND two fingers to steer

We’ll be getting between 10 and 20 inches of snow today. It’s already pretty wild out there. So much for a productive day working. Both kids and wifey are all at home.

Thanks @lousubcap , he was heck bent to get a expensive cooker, I told him not until he does a few low and slows on his Weber , they are not just for burgers and tri tip . I think it was around 9 hours, 15 pound pre trim and I had him finish it in the oven after the wrap…slices are a bit thick but other than that…I’m trying to get them into sausage and meat curing, none of them have any interest at this pointlousubcap said:@lkapigian - Your son nailed that cook. the 6000 pound airodynamic cinder block doesnt like a 75 mph cross wind on ice. it was a little edgy out there. just point and go and hope momentum works to the advantage while sipping on a coffee

Stumbled into this little gem tonight for dinner in Austin. Wow. Hard to believe brisket gets any better than this. That cream corn was on time as well.

@Eggdicted_Dawgfan, Rudy’s brisket is a consistent 7/10 - occasionally 8/10. The cream corn is 10/10.Eggdicted_Dawgfan said:Stumbled into this little gem tonight for dinner in Austin. Wow. Hard to believe brisket gets any better than this. That cream corn was on time as well.

Man, if that’s 7/10 i look forward to the 9/10. Hard to imagine. And yes that corn is special. Planning to hit Valentina’s on Sunday morning. Hopefully another spot or 2 before leaving next week. Any must eats in the cedar park area?Snellville, GA

When the snow is taller than your intake, it does get worrying, doesn't it?Canugghead said:

I got stationed to Grand Forks, ND in the fall of 1992, bought a home on a large corner lot. The first snowfall looked like this, and I shoveled both sidewalks and my driveway, took me six hours.
Went to work (very sore) the next day, everything was drifted shut again that afternoon. Bought a $700 27", two-stage snowblower before supper. I've repaired/maintained that machine ever since, even had to buy new tires two winters ago, but with global warming I've only used it once since. This winter was one light snow, lots of rain but snow in the mountains; may be able to keep a grass lawn one more year.

I think fog is being kind with his 7/10 rudys rating. I actually like rudys but it is fast food bbq.Eggdicted_Dawgfan said:Man, if that’s 7/10 i look forward to the 9/10. Hard to imagine. However, Interstellar bbq is 15-20 min away and considered among the best in tx. @lousubcap may be able to confirm (i haven't tried it yet)Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX -
You are going to get the RDH at Valentina’s, take one bite, and suddenly wonder what the helll you’ve been doing with your life.Eggdicted_Dawgfan said:Man, if that’s 7/10 i look forward to the 9/10. @Eggdicted_Dawgfan - As mentioned earlier, the Real Deal Holyfield at Valentina's is about the best breakfast food going.
And if you only have time for one other place then as @The Cen-Tex Smoker says, Interstellar located at 12233 RR 620 N Suite 105 in Austin is the place to go. Located in a strip mall. In addition to the brisket try the peach glazed pork belly. You will be glad you did.
Edit: Valentina's opens at 7:30 AM, Interstellar at 11 AM.
Edit two: Valentina's is closed Mon and Tues. FWIW-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint. -
@Botch To be honest I never doubted the little puppy’s ability. It’s perfect for our suburban 4-car driveway. Small footprint, easy to manoeuvre and reliable manual pull start. I use it no more than five times each winter though, not worth hauling it unless snow is significant. Don’t recall heavy snow like this in last decade.canuckland

Hadn’t seen that story. That photo will no doubt haunt that young woman for a good while. Actually, it looks like that incident did occur in some proximity to me. The Rideau river runs North/South and is adjacent to my area. This took place to the South. -
That could have made for a very apropos obit pic. I guess she left her needlepoint at home.

im not going to say ive never fallen thru the ice before but that woman has ice water in her veins(more likely clueless). she broke two rules. dont drive on a river. dont drive fast on ice, it sets up an underwater wave that sets up cracks infront of you
