That's about what we got here in Austin but the winds were more like 30-40 for a day or 2.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX -
Turns out it is less than forecasters predicted, getting moderate rain so far, periodic gusts of wind. Accumulation forecast is 3-4 inches total, and if the current situation holds, likely less than that. The Cen-Tex Smoker said:YukonRon said:Harvey has made its way to Kentucky this morning, supposed to be our guest all day. Just left the ortho. Surgery next week but I can't damage it any more than I have so off to Houston. Pain is very manageable as long as I don't try to lift anything with it. Way better than I thought when I did it.YukonRon said:

At least we will not get the deal that good 'ol Ike (the most recent gift from Texas prior to Harvey) brought with the Category 1 winds and 8+ day power outage (at least out here in the wilderness).

Here's a unique donation opportunity. Garrison Bros. is a central Texas Bourbon distillery. Great people, Great whiskey. Limited opportunity, but they're partnered with TeamRubicon to raise $150k. First 1000 people to donate at least $100 will get a free bottle of the bourbon barreled the day Harvey hit...when it's ready. Special bottle as well.

Have had a window of the live feed from KTRK open since last Friday. Now they are showing that the Arkema plant has had some more explosions and a big fire and they have ordered an evacuation for everyone in a mile radius.

It certainly appears that way. I don't know much about him, except he's a helluva player, but he certainly seems to be approaching this with real determination. Not just lending his name, but delving into the details of how the money will be spent and doing his best to make sure it ALL goes where it's supposed to go.DoubleEgger said:JJ Watt is something special. The NWS has released data (unofficial at the moment) showing that the total accumulated rainfall from Harvey at the Mary's Creek gauge was 50.04". The previous record was 48" set during Tropical Storm Amelia in 1978.
One gauge was even higher at 51.88" but I have no idea if that gauge existed in 1978.
Again, I was a bit surprised at how close Hurricane Harvey rainfall was to the 1978 Tropical Storm Amelia event. Regardless, Harvey set the new record for a storm in the Lower 48 states. Hope it's a record that stands for a loooooong time.
Pivotal Weather has a neat animated graphic showing rainfall accumulations over the seven day event:
