Is it possible to boil water on an Egg??

I would like to experiment with a new recipe, but I was curious if water would boil on an egg? I have an XL Egg. I thought about removing the fire ring and lowering the grill grate down right on top of the fire box. I would set my pot there. Any thoughts or input??

I would think so but it seems like it would be easier and faster to use the stove.

You can just set it on your grid or on a Platesetter/stone if you want. Either way, it will boil.

Maybe directly on the plate setter would be best? Maybe it would hold the heat similar to a stove.

Water boils at 212 degrees. Your egg is capable of 800 degrees or more.

Sure it will boil! In fact, at the first annual Pompano Beach EGGfest, I boiled water on my Mini to heat the water used in my red neck sous vide styrofoam cooker.

Depends on the elevation and lump...it takes ro 2 hours to get that hot. .

First, assuming Craig honestly didn't know you could boil water on a grill a year ago, you've got to admit he's come a long way, as he's now putting out way better (looking, at least) food off the egg than most.
