Fake it till you make it!

Also, proving to myself that sugar tastes sweeter when warm. Supposedly because temperature affects the activation of taste receptors on your tongue, specifically the TRPM5 receptors which are more sensitive to sweetness at warmer temperatures. So your brain receives a stronger signal signifying sweetness when the sugar is warm.

The warmed Cadbury egg definitely tastes better than the half-frozen one.

The Power Level feature is your friend; try 30 seconds at 50% power next time.  (this single tip earned Cooks Illustrated another year's subscription from me, solved so many problems)

I use 50% power for almost everything, it’s a game changer!  I didn’t for this though.  May try again.

I have a question about bean sprouts.  I picked up an 8-oz bag at the Asian market two days ago, yesterday noticed water in the bottom of the bag, and snipped a corner to drain that water out.  Today I fully opened the bag to add some to my stir-fry, and again some water at the bottom, which I drained off.  The sprouts at the bottom of the bag were already starting to look "iffy", so I laid the bag in the frig on the other side; I'll probably get some useable sprouts out tomorrow but I bet no more after that.

Is there a trick to keeping bean sprouts in the frig?  If they're going to go bad faster than raw chicken, they're not worth buying (even though the bag was less than $2).  I did try sprouting my own from mung beans, but I have to plan ahead, and if/when I do it I usually forget they're up in the cupboard and that isn't pretty.

Sprouts don’t hold well at all.  I will take them out of the bag, pat them dry, then roll in a dry paper towel.  Then put in a crisper drawer.  I can get an extra few days.

Thanks!  I did finally figure out that wrapping cilantro/Ital parsley/green onions in damp cloth/crisper drawer was better than setting them in a glass of water; and it makes sense as watery as they are that bean sprouts should be wrapped in a dry paper towel.

Finishing up “American Primeval” on Netflix.    Great series if you’re into things as such.    Been a fan of Peter Berg for a long time and this, to me, does not disappoint.

bean sprouts are dead easy to grow in a cupboard. mason jar with cheese cloth over top, dried mung beans in the jar. put them under the tap to fill, swish and dump. keep them in a darkish place - a cupboard by the sink is perfect and lets you rinse and repeat a few times a day.  pretty soon you have fresh sprouts any time you want.

Writing performance reviews with an occasional look at the game and music streaming into my ears.

There never seems to be enough time during the week to get these done.

The wife and I binged it Saturday.  I didn't know any of that happened, nor did I realize the Mormons were not so friendly.  Maybe I should be worried about my neighbors who are Mormon. lol  I as well really like Peter Berg.  He is the guest on a couple of podcasts I listen to this week.  Going to have to give them a listen.

Hahaha I think they’re much friendlier these days.   I have been in John Huntsman’s home in SLC surrounded by his family-nicest folk I have ever met.

As for Peter Berg, I saw he was on a Jack Carr podcast last week that I have been saving for windshield time.

    Regardless, very good series IMO.

Yes sir, I’ve read the entire series since book 1.  I like where he is going now on the non-series material too.
