  • Had a good sale on trimmed chicken breasts $1.99/lb. So I bought in bulk and just split them and vac sealed for freezing. Also watching The OSU and Tx game. Good game

What I like to do is sous vide my chicken straight from the freezer.  Easy-peasy.

Thanks for this tip! I was wondering if I needed to thaw before I sous vide or if it could go right into the bath.

Pull tabs and meat raffle. I'm out at this point. My buddies won another $250. They will be lucky to break even tonight with about $700 in winnings. Fun times.

The meat raffle consisted of a tray full of papers that were folded in half with numbers hidden within it. You could buy up to 5 entries. The person running the show would announce the winning number and you could go pick out what meat package you want. All the money that was raised for the meat raffle goes to an Autistic charity. So it's a win all the way around!

Another $250 winnings since the last post. We did good or might break even. Lots of entertainment and dinner and tabs paid for.

Oh that's crazy! I thought of pull tabs were universal. The most cheap type of gambling worth of entertainment at the bar.

I’ve spent a lot of time at the local American Legion drinking $1 beers and playing those damn pull tabs. Cardboard crack is a great name!

I had not checked on my garage freezer in a while…. Well today I did and everything was defrosted and spoiled. I normally put a heater pad in the fridge which keeps it cycling. I forgot this year..
Everything is replaceable except these two 100 day dry aged steaks gifted to me by Brent and Mike @DoubleEgger. I have kept them for sentimental purposes since 2017.

Well, I read up on it.  Legal in both California and Colorado, 2 of 3 states I've lived in, but still unknown to me.  I've never been much of a regulars bar kind of guy, I guess that's my version of a sheltered life and how it missed me. I like the idea of it, not resetting odds like a slot or as big and distributed of a pool as a state lottery, like scratcher tickets.

@johnmitchell that really sucks!  Sorry about the steaks, and for their meaning to you.

today is de-Christmasfy the house. everything into bins and then into shelving or the attic. might leak into tomorrow.

now is the time I start to regret the extra decorations I bought this year ....

I feel you. Got all of mine down last weekend. Luckily, there was little snow and ice buildup, so I was even able to dismantle all of the outdoor lights.

Feels pretty good to square that away!

I got lucky there.   I went away for a couple day hunting trip and the Mrs got a wild hair and put everything away -except attic detail (belated Christmas gift).   First time that’s ever happened.

I fight my attic like the dad in Christmas Story fights his furnace.

@johnmitchell - what a way to roll into 2025.  Proteins are replaceable.  The personal value attached to those steaks is irreplaceable.  Perhaps refreeze and label them to never be thawed with the story?

We cut our decorations to minimal years ago.

At Costco last week, saw a woman returning a whole cart of Christmas tree and decorations. That's the PRO (@TEXASBGE2018) way to do it, no storage problems, rinse and repeat next year ;)
