Getting my Christmas shopping done early this year.
Having rolled into port on Xmas Eve (pre internet) I found with the shopping there are two kinds of clerks, those who feel sorry for you and will make the experience quite pleasant and those who can't stand your presence.  If doing the brick and mortar thing I hope you find the former.

Mentally preparing myself for the shitshow that will be 2 stops at my in-laws. Post 4pm mass. There ain’t enough bourbon to make it enjoyable plus I gotta be sober enough to drive 40 minutes home and play Santa

Due to unforeseen circumstances and poor planning, did not get the boots or bag I planned for my wife.  Turns out everything in Paris wraps up at 6PM.  Stores are open till 7, but only if you are in the store by 6.  Oh well, she gets the gift of me 😹. Hopefully Hermes after Christmas will be ok.

It was a one stop trip and luckily I was able to grab one of workers to help me find the stuff I needed. She could tell I was lost in there.

lol, fortunately my wife has a good sense of humour and being her with her family is the important thing!  She likes nice things, but she loves her family!

My daughter made “Million Dollar Shortbread” today. Baked the shortbread, made the caramel, and the chocolate Grenache, and a fine dust of sea salt. This was her first time making it and she was nervous about the shortbread holding together and it turned out wonderful.

    Looks amazing!!  Merry Christmas!🎄

    Joyeux Noël

Deep in foie gras country.  Vast guinea fowl in the oven. Copious wine to be drunk.

Don’t forget to make your picking for the Boxing Day football!

    Joyeux Noel!

I think we are at opposite ends of the French experience 😆. Yours looks very relaxing and enjoyable.

That didn’t hit my radar, but now I am curious and want to!

We did try a restaurant, L’Innconu, that was started by chef Koji Higaki, a prior chef at a 2 Michelin Star restaurant in Japan.  It was a Japanese Italian fusion and pretty amazing. It was a small restaurant with 5 tables, chef and maitre’de.

Overall a very cool and intimate experience.

Looks like a place where one might do shady French meat deals.

When the driver dropped us off he was like “are you sure this is the place?” 😂

It definitely had a seedy dark vibe, which kind of added to the experience.  Nobody out front to meet you or anything, not even a light and everything looked closed.  Here was the door right across the street.

Ozzie flies to Paris to eat Italian food prepared by a Japanese chef.

In all seriousness, though, I hope your group has been sampling the local cheeses and ice creams (yes, even in December); they are magical compared to what we can get here, because of differences in our dairy purification laws.  Even a "hot dog" from a street vendor is special, the baguette is "cored" instead of sliced (and the weiner slid in from one end), you couldn't add any condiments, but both the sausage and the baguette were so exquisite you wouldn't want any condiments!

@Canugghead- Many are queued up for your latest Jaques Pepin stuffed bird banquet.  Hack saw means a turkey on the horizon.  You have got it dialed in.  HJave fun with the cook and follow-on eats.

Including the Saudi Embassy saw in the shot is even worse than a dirty fork!   :o

After hours in Boston I went into a closed pizza place, thru the kitchen, down a hall into a mob place with a couple tables. All suites sitting down, a guy each end of the table standing and watching. Me, an old friend, and a blonde Italian at the other table. The old woman that served us, cooked for us, I had the veal menuer, the other table sent over drinks.  We left thru the back door by the dumpster and a limo. Asked the two guys in  suits standing outside if there was a place around to get a good cigar, they just gave me one.  Anyways, a blonde Italian girl😁. It's the true stories that no one ever believes

@lousubcap Thanks. I learned the hard way that trying to break them with the back of a knife like Pepin did with his chicken was not fun  :)

@Botch Trust me, I scrubbed the blade clean before attacking the bones, it was the only part that came in contact with big bird =)
Edit: sliding the bone out was definitely not as much fun as sliding a weiner in.
