Quite possible that in some states D!ck's Sporting Goods would be criminally liable for such assistance.

@Ozzie_Isaac I have friends that are very left-aligned and they cheered when Barrett was confirmed because they are also very staunch Catholics.  I am sure they are cheering today, because they put a single issue above all else.

Imagine a world were families were provided the basic necessities, had access to healthcare, education, and transportation?  Imagine if the amount of time, money, and effort devoted to this issue were instead devoted to babies and children who were already born?  I know the meme about republicans not caring after birth, but that doesn't make it not true.

I read a thread on Reddit yesterday were people who had been homeless described what it was like.  One common theme was Churches turning them away and calling the police on them.  Many of these Churches were raising money for people in need who were outside of this country, but couldn't be bothered and actively worked against those in their own community who needed help.

I know that is a broad stroke to paint, and not all Churches are like that, but the number of anecdotal stories detailing their treatment was eye-opening.

We have friends/neighbors who are similar.  I am not sure I'll ever really be able to view them the same way again.

SMH.  These are the people who believe God is smiting our country because of abortion.  We don't need God's help in ruining our country.  We are doing a fine job of it on our own.

I think God would be equally concerned with how we treat each other everyday.

It was a debate.  I mean we all say things in a debate, or a congressional investigation we don't really believe.
I can't remember, are potential SC Justices sworn in before the questioning?  If so, what happens when three of them committed perjury?  Nothing, I guess.
It’s not a debate.  It’s a hearing, for a job opening.  A group interview.  No one is under oath and opinions on what you will or won’t do in the future don’t mean jack sh!t

I think each party should get to pick 4 Justices, and the non-president party gets to pick the 9th.

Based on conversations with friends who are lawyers, the general consensus in the community is the Supreme Court is too small/not productive enough.  Cases are backed up for years, even decades, as they can only address a small fraction of appeals from state courts, appeals that involve the constitution.   They have some original jurisdiction also, but the take-away is they move much too slow.  They (lawyer friends) say a larger court can split into smaller groups, preferably where the various justices have expertise, and handle a wider variety of law with a larger experience base and deal with cases in parallel, rather than in a linear series of cases.

Much of our law is outdated, much of our commerce, especially digital, has no law governing it.  It's the wild west and it's brutal.

I am sure there is a lot of this, but these friends are children of immigrants and have devoted a large part of their time and $ to helping people in need, kids especially, get a leg up and they continue to do so.  Abortion is just a non-negotiable issue for them.  My point is, abortion crosses all kinds of lines.  They cheered ACB, but they are as far as you can be from MAGA-land.

They have a vested interest and are working to better their community.  I can appreciate that and recognize it also gives them a front row seat to the impacts of their belief.  In the USA I can respect their right to their view.  They are at least informed and working to help people.  We could use a lot more of that.

I would have jumped on that offering any day.  Beats the obvious choices from the male perspective of "swimming with a raincoat" or bailing out at just the right time.  B)  But this post is far afield from the real issue.  Remember I am a sailor at heart.

    So confused.

Good chunk of the populace can't stomach the thought of government legislating for gun control, but its totes ok to strip away a woman's right to decide what she does with her gestating self. I know, not my original thought, but that doesn't make it any less baffling.

I figured out the problem.  Intercourse is only for procreation.  So there should never be an unwanted pregnancy, and medical issues are fake news.  If you enter into intercourse for any other reason then you are sinning.  It is up to godly men to punish you.

But... what about practice? You can't get good at makin' babies, unless you practice. Alot.

That is why you have a pastor there the first time to show you how to do it.  They will save you from the sinning.

Btw, I feel immense guilt about the above post, due to my conflicted Christian upbringing, but sometimes jokes just need to be made.

Add in all the room-temperature-IQ trumplicans who screamed, for two years, "You can't make me wear a mask, it's MY body!", and it becomes an even more perplexing and unsolvable Thought Problem.
Again, so glad I'm old, and have no kids/grandkids.

It is worse than that.  They are actively using that as justification.  My FB feed is full of it.
