Corn with evoo, mushrooms with Montreal seasoning and butter, in foil pouches ahead of the burgers, which got mushrooms, cheese raw onions and mustard on some healthy type of bun. Ain’t gotta be fancy

Weather girl said it'd be cold and rainy all day today. So I prepped for @RRP's ham and bean soup, with a tray of Pilsbury's Finest:
It did rain all night, but sunny today. But the house smells great and the belly's happy.___________"They're eating the checks! They're eating the balances!"

Race Day Chili in progress. Double batch to share with family and neighbours.

@GrateEggspectations - I could use enlightenment regarding Race Day. No clue here other than the F1 race in Montreal next June.So, what constitutes Race Day??
Looks like 70*F/21*C right now in the capital. A bit warm for runners and horses...
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -
@lousubcap
Will you make it out to Montreal? I recall you have good memories from there.

Chili and cornbread.

@GrateEggspectations - thanks for the explanation and the impressive $$ shot (if you can call a $$ shot with chili.) However, looks like beans are adrift in those bowls-hang on!Regarding Montreal-your memory is spot-on regarding my experiences in Montreal but my one last F1 experience will be in Austin this month. Botch said:I'm surprised those handle coatings can withstand the direct infrared line-of-sight/heat of the red coals; what brand of DO is that?

@botch
I had my wife reassure me, several times over, that it would be okay to use this DO on the oven. I bought it for her years ago. -
I have the same Scanpan pot. It's aluminum with a fancy non-stick coating inside. When I got it, the instructions said to have a maximum temperature of 500 F. Didn't say anything about over direct heat. Got to admit that I'm impressed it's surviving. The lid is glass with a knob made of the same material as those handles.It's a very good pot. Wish they still made that line.Somewhere on the Colorado Front Range
