Just went down a Porter Road beef buy-Volcano Beef Shank (will be a virgin cook).
Advertised as around 4.5 lbs.  Gonna be a fun cook.
Fun cook.  Takes longer than brisket.  Capture all that marrow-gold!  Some good eating awaits!  Can't wait to see the result.

@Langner91 thanks for the insights as the internet is big on overarching info but lacking on the details.

Thanks, for all your pictures and explanations! I have some short 30” spalted logs which I hope didn’t get away from me this winter as I got busy last fall and never brought them into my garage. I had planned to plank some for small projects and turn some chunks into small bowls on my lathe. But we will see!

    Sometimes, we even smell rustic.

Ron, spalted logs are gold!  I’ve made some by letting them sit out in the rain for a year.

A little late in posting, but another member kindly reminded me that I never reported back on these. We’ve recently done a little work around the house. We installed a new TripleSafe sump pump, renovated two of our bathrooms and will be replacing all of our windows this summer/fall.

(@gulfcoastguy: I think you had previously mentioned needing to do a very small bathroom and I tried to remind myself to report back on our 2x5 “ensuite”. Sorry if that was not you.)

    Sump pump:

    “Ensuite”:

    Basement bathroom:

It was. Love the floor tile in pic 2. Traveling today but I will look at the others more carefully later.

Freezing rain caused a 2 days power outage here.  Just ordered a power station for the CPAP, if it works well, I’ll get a bigger one for the fridge too.  I am also looking into solar panels to charge it.

Have the 250 for our boat. I can literally lay down in it at 6’ tall. Takes two grown ass men to move it

Woah!  I’m not sure I want to know how much those cost.

I’ve been changing my tactics lately where if I need coolers for day trips or parties, I just use cheap (and light) ones.

I’m done buying the high end stuff, paid my dues with more than a few.

I’m not knocking roto-molded coolers, they are great for keeping stuff cold (or warm) for extended times where you don’t have the luxury of an ice machine or oven.

Got it from a distributor who couldn’t sell it. Paid $460 about 7 years ago. Strictly used on snapper trips. Spends 90% of its time in our storage unit

Thanks. We love that tile too. I like black and liked that this one is a small hex pattern with three different textures on the tiles - matte, polished and pebbled. It was an eleventh hour find at Home Depot or Lowe’s - I don’t remember which. And we had visited countless tile places before stumbling upon this.

Wow, I’m guessing that was cost at the time.  They are listed at 1k exactly on their website

If I bought a Yeti 250, I'd have to live in it.
Cheap compared to 175 gallons of ethanol free every other trip. Boat is going on 10 years old now, that cost way gone. Just annual engine maintenance.

Can fit a dead body.  What kind of snapper are you hunting?  Do we need to call @Battleborn ?

Red Snapper and Mangrove snapper. Pack as many heads on the boat as we can. Roll out. 3 per man on reds. 10 per man on mangroves plus bonus fish. We’ve come back in with every box full and no ice due to needing the space.

Yeah those are awesome especially for long trips.   My buddy has a 250 on his boat for when he goes 60 miles offshore, I call his a coffin.

I’m headed off Axis hunting for 5 days next week and there is nothing out there so need plenty of ice/cold for days.
