Those are nice gloves @fishlessman if I was a llbean log cabin weekender with rrp money I’d be all over that.

i buy one stupid gift for myself at xmas, something i would never buy myself.  will work nice on the boat at iceout on the ss steering wheel. why do they put metal steering wheels on boats that head out in freezing weather. i do have to say they are nice though, the outside stitch makes the inside extremely comfortable. oh, and dont waste your money on llbean crap, thats not the store it used to be.

The only thing I routinely buy myself is gin.  Can you tell?

Put a suicide knob on your steering wheel. Do people do that on boats? Or pipe foam and hockey tape.

I'm upgrading my ~50-yr-old Badger spray gun to some more modern guns, and needed a compressor.  I have a bigazz compressor in the garage, but wanted a smaller one for the woodshop for the airbrushes, upgraded to this just a bit so I can use a pin nailer/stapler in the woodshop, should I ever go that route.
Harbor Freight sells Fortress compressors.   I have the 1 gallon and 2 gallon units.  They are sofa king quiet, you can barely hear them.  I paid around $140 for each.

I love my Makita. Sooo quiet. And reasonably light. Was a challenge getting it though, as no one had it locally.

As I've been moving houses and traveling around the country the past few years I gave my 30 gallon Craftsman compressor to a coworker to hold for me in his woodshop.  Knowing what I know now about these fortress compressors I may never ask for that one back. Thanks for posting.

I have a Porter Cable pancake compressor that I bought at least 25 years ago. I used it for many years running nail guns etc while doing carpenter work on the side. It is a garage queen now. It has been a good one. It is loud AF though.

The ewetube video of the California Air Tools compressor did a comparison between theirs and a pancake (don't think it was a PC) and the difference was astounding.
@nolaegghead , I looked really hard at those Fortress models, how long have you had them?
@Kayak , wish I'd seen that one; it includes a water trap, and the form factor (taller/slimmer) would've fit under my bench better.

Today I ordered a Paasche "H" airbrush kit:

...along with some extra glass jars, a cleaning kit, and a water trap.  I also had a higher cost detail brush in my cart, an Iwata "Eclipse":

...although I'm holding off on that one, we'll see how detailed the Paasche can go first; my old eyes may not be able to see beyond what the Paasche can do. A fun rabbit hole, to be sure.

I think we need a "What did your significant other buy?" thread.  I bet some partners make out well due to this forum also.

We have 4 electrical services in the local lab.  In the summer, the electric bill is close to 20k.  There are rooms where all the air is changed every few minutes and tempering all that air ain't cheap.

osha made me put up so many signs and then had me put railings up on a shelf.  notice the railings are mounted on pivots so you can open them up when actually working up there. makes so much sense.......

You should put up some signs like

"OSHA Requires this Sign Be Displayed"

    "Severed Limb Repository"

    "No Shooting at This Sign"

They don't use air-to-air heat exchangers??

This is a wife purchase.  I used it once and liked it, it cleaned up fine.  Way less sticky than stainless but definitely not as good as Teflon.

No.  I did the engineering on the hoods and HVAC and wanted to incorporate one, but our big problems are with humidity and we really need something to remove latent heat and the solution for that could reintroduce crap we are trying to vent.  (Regenerative wheel systems)  The exhaust is from hoods and that exhaust is corrosive and loaded with solvents like methylene chloride, hexane, acetone, etc.  some supply (makeup) air is dumped in front of the hoods, but the whole goal is safety.  I also was constrained by budget and time.

I honestly believe that even spotting @nolaegghead close to 20 years in age he has more toys than I ever accumulated or anyone I have ever met, let alone forum limited.
And that is a left-handed (I am one of the 13%) compliment.
