Image the number of people that have drained their retirement accounts just to survive...
Then you have the type who listened to Dave Ramsey and had the 3-6 month emergency reserve on hand. (I'd actually like to see the data on that)
The trickle down effect hasn't even started yet...
    Scary stuff!

You have police captains making $438k a year?  That seems kind of crazy to me, but then I have no idea how typical that is.

My buddy is a reporter and moved from here in Southeast VA to New Jersey.  First thing that shocked him was the salaries of public employees, police in particular.

Pretty good breakdown on a weekly basis of the impacts, from sector to sector, here:

Sounds like the public sector stuff is really just starting.

its easy for an officer here to add an additional 65k plus once their shift is over by watching cars go by construction sites and collecting an hourly hazard pay. you know the job in nh where the young girl spins a sign that says stop on one side and slow on the other collecting minimal pay

Surprised that any state would allow employees to collect unemployment if employer is calling them back to work. I also don't blame employees for not sprinting back to work when risk of infection is involved.

the employer would have to file for a hearing to stop the checks, it takes months for the hearing and then if the employer wins the checks stop. the employee doesnt have to pay the checks back to the state, he just needs to get a new job. atleast thats how its played out here in massachusetts

My wife is in the staffing industry. Manufacturing/Distribution mostly.

They have lots of jobs coming back but the temps are staying home collecting UB's with the $600 kicker.

I asked her couldn't they just tell the state that the jobs are back and cut UI?

I believe the cowardly flagger is a retired person who, if he gets up early, it’s only to get on the golf course.
But first, he brews and sips his covfefe while reviewing the posts in this thread.

i went thru the process once chasing this kind of thing with a noshow drunk and theres zero satisfaction. actually twice, a guy applying for a job owed over 100,000 in child support, saw his pic on a wanted sign in a little shop in another state, made the call and was told it wasnt worth their time to pursue. wait, a third time, saw a guy get thrown from a speeding car, called 911 and was told to recall the fire department by the officer on duty

Our motto is fire them. The benefits stop. These are employees were temporarily laid off due to shut down. At this point, they’re refusing to return to work These owners will need new employees, but they shouldn’t be that hard to find. Just sucks to have to retrain the entire staff.

@ColtsFan Ramsey fans here,  1.5 years ago we started Ramsey, we paid off 3 credit cards, zero turn mower, swmbo student loans, her car and sold our rental house in Raleigh.
I have still been using a operating loan to farm but I am working on that and own all my equipment. Also we did not have a mortgage until about a hour ago, we just signed on a construction loan for a new home.
Everyone is different but I can vouch for living debt free, we still budget, it has honestly brought us closer together as a couple, and we still buy whatever we want.

We have manageable debt.  Owe around 20k on the house and 15k on the Audi.  No credit card debt.  But plenty of people aren't as lucky as we are.

If you like to have lots of kids and give them a good upbringing, as well as not having the luxury of good stable jobs (resistant to economic turns), the kids are understandable and someone has to do those jobs.

We need to support the millions of families that need this support - they do vital work, and we're a country, a giant tribe, that needs to look out for one another.

Good point John, but we certainly aren’t seeing a massive uprising from the left about this issue.
How would you know, Mike?  It’s not like you’re tuning into MSNBC every night.
I’m not watching Faux News every night either but a quick google tells me there’s a deafening silence from the left. There certainly isn’t the constant barrage in the news cycle like there was for Kavanaugh, instead you get Politico publishing about how they’re aren’t burying the Biden story. They certainly aren’t trumpeting it either.

When a vacuous twit like Alyssa Milano was ready to hang Kavanaugh when that story broke, but then comes out and says Biden deserves the benefit of the doubt, the irony and hypocrisy amaze me.
Chris Hayes on MSNBC had the audacity to cover the Joe Biden sexual assault story. #FireChrisHayes is trending.

I honestly think a video of Biden doing lines of blow off a hooker’s ass while plowing another would get a pass from the left and the media as long as it led to Trump being defeated.
