    Sorry John about the work.

I just finished a project well ahead of schedule meeting or exceeding in performance the requirements developed for a specific project.

Due to Covid 19, it has been postponed, and likely to not be revived. While not as long as your project has been in process, we invested significantly into this due to its potential, but now we have to shelve, unless we pursue exclusivity when the owner of the idea folds or wishes to sell which neither is likely.

We are covered in all expenses, and made money doing so, however.....it is a gut kick to have this happen, after investing the sweat equity.

Looks like I missed some fun in here this morning.  I was on a conference call about a big meeting in my community that was scheduled for late July in Paris.  Will likely be cancelled.   Four years of work for our team over there, all down the drain.  Tough to swallow but it’s nothing compared to what a lot of people are dealing with right now.
That's rough. Especially for the students/trainees who don't have the perspective of the long game. But this is literally a question of living to fight another day.

Yes I had a few of my own PhD students who were set to attend and present.  We were expecting well over 5000 people at this conference.

We did spend a lot of time looking at postponing it too, but none of the options are any good.  We'd just be pushing our problems onto someone else in the community, and in the end we decided that this just wasn't in the best interests of the science.

While I was not the one who disagreed with the comment I find it hard to believe any statistics coming out of the Chinese government.

I think you're confusing cardiovascular disease with cooties (which most of us get over by the time we finish 3rd grade).

I thought Warren Buffett was going to give away 99% of his wealth before he died. Seems like now would be a good time to let go of some that cash. That goes for all the others who signed that Giving Pledge.

I think Buffett is probably, just like many of us, staring at a portfolio that lost about a third of its value over the past month.

C’mon. The dude is like 90 yrs old. If his claim is true, get out the checkbook when Americans need it most. BH owns Dairy Queen. Start by paying some wages for them.

He's given away tens of billions of dollars in recent years, almost entirely in the form of stock.  Maybe he thinks selling low isn't the best way to do the most charitable good, I don't know.

By the news reports he is apparently buying the dip.  Then again, maybe he's an Egghead who will be spurred to action by an 11th-hour comment in a sinking thread.

He gave most of his money to the Gates Foundation so you should give Bill a call and tell him to start cutting checks.

Ultimately, I agree, I have little faith in the numbers from China. However we can't deny how rapidly we have grown and today, nowhere close to being done, it was a pretty brutal day.

If the WHO  numbers are correct, The USA represents a significant portion of the current global cases: 22.4%.

At this point, forgive me for the rudeness, but who really gives a shît about China's numbers, right or wrong?

Can't remember which news source I saw it on today (I need to go for more walks) but supposedly 21 million cellphone accounts in China have suddenly stopped any activity.
