You can’t fool most doctors, especially if they have your bloodwork labs to look at.  You can lie all you want, but your liver enzymes and blood platelet size tell him another story.
ive been asked by a blood specialist if im a vegetation before, im about as far from that as one could get. anyways its been a while, things change, we shall see
    I don’t know too many vegetations.  I can’t imagine they’re big talkers.

Health is something we all take for granted....and I'll be the first to say that I am fortunate to be rather healthy while also being overweight and getting old. Learned this morning of a neighbor (lives behind me) who has less than 30 days to live. He has cirrhosis of the liver.  I don't mean this to be a reminder of our intake....but rather we will all be facing death at some point. Must take a lot of courage to face this type of information. I pray for his family.

Fish.....sorry I hijacked your thread to share my personal sadness. Hope all is well with you.

I kinda enjoyed the whole colonoscopy thing. I just used the over the counter colon cleanse option and that was no big deal - hardest thing was drinking the gallon of water.
Was kinda cool seeing the scope/tools they shove up your butt - rather amazing how high res the picture appeared on the big screen tv while they were getting it ready.
There was no discomfort during the procedure. I was under a little longer than the normal time frame as they found/removed some polyps (turned out to be no problem) and I have to say that hour or so I was "lights out" was the best round of sleep I had had in years!
I'm almost due for my next scoping and they've been pushing the no home prep method where they just plug you into a "colon flush machine" to wash you out right in the office just before the procedure. I think I'll just stick with the at home process.

they did mine back in my twenties, fully awake, the first 3 or 4feet  was relatively pain free, but the next couple was painful as hell.

a friends is on his third liver transplant, 4 livers total,  you dont want that. he has never had a drink and it takes along time to recoup, once better its all down hill again

I’ve been on losartan for several years.  It works well for me with no side affects. I don’t know about amlodipine.

about 30 years back i was on lisinipril,  was falling down and not getting up, doc said it was not the med and dropped it like that, i dropped the doc and the med.  my diastolic dropped from 90 to 89 on the med and i was going to crack my skull on it. pretty sure this doc was going to put me on that first, hoping this works out better for me.

I don't blame you for dropping the doc.  Hopefully the new med will work better for you - good luck.

fishlessman Are you sure you didn't receive a sigmoidoscopy as opposed to a colonoscopy that first time?  A sigmoidoscopy is performed in office, without any anesthesia, and is not pleasant.  Performing a colonoscopy while a patient is still conscious should get a doctor reported to the state medical board.

And 150/90 is not an optimal goal unless you’re in check out age range.  Perhaps a short-term goal.  Latest studies suggest much lower is better (unless your passing out and rolling your suv).  120s-130/70s.  No expert but I do read.

The other benefit is the use of CO2 rather than air, the post procedure gas pains are a thing of the past, I do miss letting the loudest longest farts.
This is funny, coming from a guy called "skiddymarker".   =)

My ex-GF, an RN, was 6 months or so older than me, and dutifully got her first colonoscopy after her 50th birthday.  Couple days later she was shivering and gasping for breath, told the ER folks her intestine was probably perforated, but the old codger Dr. who looked at her X-ray said, "Nope, don't see nuthin'". She argued to get another opinion, then another, who finally found the perf; she damn near died.
I got nagged constantly to get one after my birthday, but to this day I haven't/won't.
    Two thoughts:
    1) The best doctors aren't always the ones with the lowest complication rates.  It's the ones who are willing to admit they've had a complication and deal with them proactively - so as to avoid disastrous consequences.

    2) (sarcasm font) Late diagnosis of colon cancer isn't such a bad thing.  It gets big enough to block your colon and the stool backs up.  If your ileocecal valve is competent your colon explodes in your abdomen.  If the valve is not competent the stool backs up through the small intestine, then stomach and then you come to the ER puking feces out your mouth and nose.  It's quite a sight.

I know very few seniors that don’t take meds.  In my case, I dealt with gout for 30+ years.  No matter how much salmon or cherry juice I consumed, I had high uric acid.  It was heridity.  So I take Uloric daily ($15/pill) for.the rest of my life.  And can eat or drink anything with no gout attacks.  It’s all about “quality of life” with some of these overpriced pills.
