Love or hate the guy, Jesse James is one incredible fabricator. His handmade guns are absolutely stunning. I've always wanted a nice damascus style chef knife but a hand forged damascus style gun is a whole new level of want. He has only made 3 of them. Unfortunately I'm only $85,000 short of owning one.

@SGH Been thinking about getting one of the 22/45's (mark III or IV).
Parts from Diamond Head arrived today (UPS ground is next day when you're 1/2 a state away). Need to start ordering the rest of the parts to get that mother built up.
Also looking at getting a new laptop soon. There's a rewards program at work that gives an additional discount on some. I'm still trying to pick a model to go with. My instinct is to go with a business class laptop (14" display). But I'm thinking about getting something with more gaming components. Even though I won't use it for gaming. Which is why it's lower on the list. Right now top contenders are the ThinkPad T480 and T480s.

No wife, gf or kids here. Good paying job so I have $$ that I can allocate to fun things. I do try to plan out the larger purchases a little ahead so that I don't have them stacked up in the same month.
Next weekend is another gun show, so I'm probably going to hold off on some things until after that. Just in case I see something that I really want.  =) Last show, a few weeks back, I only bought a couple of small items. Fat 50 ammo can, a sign (on my fridge now) and an 'used' SigTac brace (for cheap).

If I could go back and undo the girlfriends, wife, kids and grandkids, I would be a millionaire. Not in the same league with some of these high rollers, but I would be pretty well off though.

Just laid a “deposit” on my wife’s gallbladder surgery. I asked the receptionist if I got it back after the surgery. She looked at me like I was crazy. I said, oh you meant payment, not deposit

Wouldn’t we all!  But the major cost is when you get rid of a wife (alimony in Kansas was 11 years), and give away all your toys!

I did the paperwork and paid for a Sig Sauer SRD22X today. Unfortunately it will be 6-9 months before I have it in hand. It is what it is.

Yup. Only going to be 3’ exposed on the sides which will be covered in shot rock. The rock being another expense... crazy how much 13” of rain can cost.

@SGH with those quantities and wear schedule, you must out-source your overall cleaning to some elite custom cleaners.  Special order softener?  =)

@lousubcap I don't recall seeing him [ever] mention cleaning them. With the rate he buys them at, I just assumed he tosses them when they can stand/walk on their own.

@SGH It's more cost effective to build than buy many times. Even if you get something cheap, by the time you replace the **** parts with good ones, you are behind. Of course, I did see a DPMS AR10 listed in another forum (seller is in MA) at full retard pricing. A DPMS with drop-in handguard, their crappy gas block (rail on top, that won't match the flat top upper rail) and such for $3600?? That's full retard pricing IMO. I could build 3x that rifle for 1/2 the money.
I just ordered up my new VMware host box. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M0VTV3E
Ordered two 16GB memory sticks to start off with (will be able to add two more later) and a 32GB SATA mount SSD module that ESXi will be installed on. I already have a 500GB SSD that will go into it and I might order a NVMe drive later to add to that.
The new box should draw around 40W of power. A ton less than the T5600 workstation I'm using now. So I fully expect to see my electric bill drop.
Also arriving today is a new UPS to replace the one I got around 2008. Old is 1500VA, new is 850VA (510W) so that should be another electric bill save. Got a small LCD also arriving to do the initial config of the new server (to set up the integrated management connection before it goes headless). Didn't feel like connecting to my 32" LCD for that. So the 10" will do. I might put the display down in the basement next to the server to make it easier in the future. Or leave it upstairs and bring it down if/when needed.
The last piece of that order is slated to arrive Friday (the SSD module) so I'll either set it all up Friday after dinner or over the weekend.
I was going to go with a newer version of the Supermicro box, but this one is about $500 less. Not that much older of a processor in this one. If I can get at least four years of new ESXi installs on it, I'll be pretty happy. I'll shift my running VMs to my iSCSI datastores when I'm ready to make the change and just connect them to the new box after that. I'll have to decide if I want to put the two hosts into a single host cluster (will need to use EVC if I do) or leave them in different clusters. There's good and bad with both methods. Since this is a home lab setup, I can deal with the short down time the VMs experience if I don't put the hosts in the same cluster.
Next decision is if I'm going to order a new personal laptop today (assuming I get the financing option). The keyboard on my current one periodically does double hits on keys, even though I only hit the letter once. It's really starting to annoy me. At least I'll get a good warranty period on the new laptop (probably pick the 4 year option) and will also pick the sealed battery replacement (think it covers after the first year of the warranty). Lenovo has a sale still going on until midnight tonight (EST). Plus if I use the 'perks' option from work, I get a deeper discount. Saves me almost $400 that way (on top of the discount you normally see).
