@fishlessman - I may be in the deep minority here but I didn't realize that anti-gravity batteries were available to the public.  ;)  My google search didn't give me any good suppliers for such either.

i changed the battery out a month ago, no cranking amps with a load especially below 0 f.  borrowed one from the harley shop across the street and it worked well enough i wanted one for the boat, the boat batteries are always drained. so far no gremlins in the truck yet =)  now changing a battery in a rover was A a challenge   B reset every window, reset the suspension,  turn the wheels all the way left then all the way right, reset the hba sensitivity....whatever that is =)

  • I bought the rifle that I mentioned. I am going to ponder a while over which rings and scope. The nearest gun range is $300 the first year and $ 200 in subsequent years, I asked a member this morning. No hurry yet.

Just ordered parts for the AR10 pistol build.
They have a 15% off sale going on this week, along with free shipping. Saved just over $50 total (added rail pieces to go on the handguard so I could put on an AFG and maybe something else not on the top rail).

I picked up a couple of items myself. A new AR-10 lower and an AR-15 lower.

    A few high capacity magazines.

I have said it before and I will say it again now, if I had half the money that some of these high rollers have, I wouldn’t be buying just parts. Oh well, my broke a$$ does the best that I can.

Most of my builds are based on 80% lowers that I finish the machining on, then either anodize or Cerakote (get them raw).
I have a good amount of standard capacity magazines (that's 30 round for the AR15). Plus some 'high' capacity magazines (40 round PMags plus the D60).
I'm planning out the rest of the parts orders for this build. Planning to order from each vendor in one shot, to save on shipping. Or make sure I hit the minimum to get free shipping. ;)
I hope that the barrel doesn't take the full 8-16 weeks they say. Going standard profile since it's all of .2# heavier than the light profile barrel. Not sure if I'll just get it in the machined finish or let them finish it. I could just get some of the air cure Cerakote and spray it with that and be done with it. It's less about cost and more about time frame now. Especially since I'll be dropping about $1200-$1300 total on the parts needed. Including $190 for the BCG. Oh, and the ~$200 for the Geissele reaction rod (to put the upper together). Since I'm thinking about changing the color of my AR10 rifle upper, it would be good to have. Plus I have a friend that's also building an AR10.

  • You guys ever bought parts from Joe Bob’s Outfitters here in Hays Kansas?  I have built a lot of law enforcement rifles using his parts, and he ships to 50 states. He has some very good prices on top brand parts.  His new warehouse is 21,000 square feet with full HVAC climate control.

I do have one cat who is a hunter-killer but not in that league.  He (it) is all in with mice, moles and dumb birds.  Leaves the suitable for stuffing catch outside the porch door, although will occasionally fail to completely remove the feathers before house entry.

I might have ordered from him once, maybe twice, in the past ~7 years I've been building things. Most of the time, I can locate the parts either at a LGS or I go direct to the manufacturer.
I've ordered a decent amount from Aim Surplus though. I have at least a couple/few of their AR15 BCGs that arrive for short money (free shipping). Worth looking at what they have.

SBR’s ain’t fun in .308. I’ve got a .223 Daniel’s Mark 18. That’s fun. More fun is the Sig MPX pistol with the arm brace. Swapped out the 8” barrel for a 4” with a 3 lug mount. Attached a DeadAir Ghost and away we go! Convenient that the arm brace has the “same” length of pull like a rifle stock would

I figure with the adjustable gas block I'll be in good shape. Might get the JP captured spring buffer item for it. Also thinking about getting the folding stock adapter as well. Just to make it take up even less space when not being used. With the 12-1/2" barrel I'm expecting epic fireballs from the muzzle (Diamond Head compensator). Since I reload, I can also make up ammo that will be optimal in it.
Columbia River Arms told me that the barrel I'll be ordering will be at least a solid 300 yard shooter. If not 600 yard shooter. Since that's beyond what I expect to have targets from me, that will work. If I need to hit something at long range, I have a bolt action 308 Win as well as AR10 rifle to use.
BTW, I'm not building a SBR, but a pistol... Don't want to deal with the tax stamp, and it's still legal to do it this way. :)

SBR / pistol lines are blurred these days eh? When I think “shorty” I think clearing structures where the short length is a benefit, don’t need 308 for that but I’m not saying you shouldn’t do it. Me it would be 300 blackout with a can but each to their own. 308 would be KAC SR25 for me.

I also have a 300 Blackout pistol with a 10.5" barrel. The AR10 pistol is intended to be it's "bigger brother". After this build, I'm looking to get a Marlin lever action in 357 Magnum (to go along with my GP100).
I do need to get a display case to put these in. Which is another item to get once the snow stops coming down. :)

The gun at the top of the pic is a 300 Blackout SBR 9.5”.

My 300 Blackout pistol build. Started off as an 80% lower. Had to machine the buffer tube since it was over sized. Turned it down enough so that it's still snug, but not impossible to get on/off.

Would it be possible for me to borrow Jazz cat for a week? My dogs don't seem to be able to catch up with the ones eating from my bird feeder.
