kl8ton said:Just left the house to catch up on a project at work before going to bed. Water over the road. There is a current flowing across my driveway. Looks like it will not end soon. It hit 60 here today. The ground was already saturated. Now all the snow is melting and it has been raining nonstop. Basement is staying dry! If I lose power, I will be finding a generator right quick to keep sump pump working.
Current flow in to the crock:
1 standard
1 on battery back up set to go on if water rose 3 inchs above the set height for 1st pump- good for 3hrs run time. Used a standard car battery so could swap batteries in a pinch.
1 on precut pipe with quick disconnect ready to swap in if one pump burns up.
Did I mention I have a "water in my house" phobia? I hate hate hate water where it is not supposed to be.
Stay dry, looks like you have a pretty steady flow!!Don't tell your problems to people. 80% of people don't care and 20% are glad you have them.

Sitting here having a beer listening to the wind. Was 75°, supposed to be 35° tomorrow. Had dinner with my wife’s sisters and aunt tonight. Had to call hospice for my mother in law and had last rights today. Reflecting on the meaning of life and what’s important. Proabably not something you think about on a Tuesday night. We had a great dinner and drinks telling great stories. It’s a shame something like has to happen to get everyone together.Midland, TX XLBGE

Got back to L'ville around 30 minutes ago after starting the day running into @YukonRon as he noted. He is a Southwest high-flier; as in the #1 person to board this AM. Meanwhile the rest of flew in the same first-class cabin. And yes it was one of those days.
Nothing like and out-and-back with a day of meetings in between. But all's well that ends well.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -

thetrim said:Watching the women’s downhill. For the skiers out there would that run be considered a bunny slope or double black diamond or something else?
Typically the starts are at the top of a head wall on a double black diamond. The run typically decreases in overall pitch over distance encompassing portions of double black, black, intermediate and even some beginner trails for the downhill. GS and Slalom is typically a mix between double black, black and blue.
Those courses vary widely, and one run is usually composed of several different runs on a non-competition day. Many mountains will post where the "Starting point for the 20xx Woman's/Men's slalom/giant slalom or downhill" is or another portion may be labeled " X head wall" because the run is a popular one on the circuit and people want to say they skied it.
For competition, the mountain will close the run(s) and will pack the snow sometimes weeks in advance to prep the trail so it will be smooth and just barely softer than rock hard. The average black diamond skier can ski the runs with little or no problem because you are turning and keeping speed under control. These athletes are headed down as fast as possible and trying to carve their turns so no speed is lost. That makes that same hill, head wall or minor drop a totally different beast. The mountain has to build up or scrap off feet of snow so "minor" dips of a few feet are not a major hazard. Where the average skier may glide over a minor dip or maybe catch a few feet in the air, these pros may fly 30, 40 or more feet in distance at 60-70+ MPH then land and get right back in the tuck. That is obviously a totally different game and challenge.
I have skied for 40 years. I am comfortable in all but dense trees with no fresh snow, chutes which are scraped off, and no longer do I jump anything higher than 8-10 feet- and even there, 2 feet of fresh powder better be below me to cushion my landing. Those downhill courses are no joke when groomed for competition. I could not image starting where they start and not turn to ditch a lot of speed within the first 50 yards, and sometimes even in the first 50 feet. Not a chance....
If one ever gets to go to a competition, they are a blast. They have music going, beer flowing, and usually there are a few BBQ grills going.
