The kid on the right is not mine, but he could be. It's his first NBA game. He's thru the roof.

I hear a child crying.  In 30 seconds, one child will be down to tell on another.  I can hear the suspect trying to smooth things over and be overly nice.

Mine always got punished in pairs in this scenario.  Kind of like participation trophies.

About to put on some burgers. Got a burger press for Christmas. I think my family was trying to tell me they wanted more uniformity in the burger thickness.

Nick at Berkwood Farms left a few bellies for me in an oak tree hole at the bottom of Snake Den Hollow, as they weren't open today.

Guy at Hawgeye's BBQ/TNT Landscaping in Ankeny was really nice, told us about Shad breaking off from Darren at Smokey D's and doing his own thang, Kue'd, in Waukee....always drama in BBQ. Lol

He decided our destiny by coin flip.  Smokey D's it is.  On our way, I saw Kue'd's menu had short ribs on special for Saturdays.  Went against the flip, and around DSM to Waukee.

Good service, they had our meals as we were sitting down.  2 big SS Ole Hickory pits were spotted, along with stacked cherry sticks.

Legit for $20 with mac n cheese and a Coke.

Cutting things with the horseradish sauce was nice.

This could also be used in self-defense.

Damn good seats for the Bob Dorr And The Blue Band Encore.  Kind of bittersweet, to see these guys moving on, as they played the first Mississippi Valley Blues fest in the early 80s.

Perfect travel weather, keeping the bellies iced for a little insurance.  A great day in DSM.

Grilled some chops on the Small raised direct:

Once it got dark, went out to see how I liked the lighting I hung this afternoon:

Really like the way it turned out. Need to redo the pergola lights, there's plenty to wrap all 4 columns, I just didn't plan when I put them up.

Sister-in-laws birthday. I told her she can pick whatever she wanted for her birthday meal. She chose pizza. I'm not sure if that's a compliment to my other meals she has had at my house? :s=) Pizza it is! I don't think I'll have time for every pic so I only have the beforehand shots:

My youngest boy (6) (who got a 17" BS for a birthday present wanted to do some griddling.  Well, at a balmy 41 degrees (felt so warm, like spring cleaning time), he cooked up some onions and garlic that I put in our pasta sauce tonight.  He wanted his picture taken with his rolled up griddling utensils.  Note the apron under the coat.

Yes, I have not taken the trampoline down yet. . . I may not. . .

    Great Sous Chef right there!!

Just returned from a great charity fund-raiser:

Definitely worth it.  Pouring Woodford and Four Roses Single Barrel.  The bacon concoctions were great and quite creative.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Rolling a little oak smoke. Threw on a little brisket flat to play around. I don’t think I’ve ever cooked just a flat. Got some pork butt I’m gonna warm in my Fagor for lunch. Cooked it yesterday at work. Was great last night when I pulled it. We shall see how it reheats. Prediction is it will be delicious.

Sausage and eggs for breakfast, then put a Costco three pack of spares on the large I am making for friends who had a baby on Thursday. My wife is the Godmother of the new boy. Mom and baby are coming home today. We thought the newborn and 3, 5 and 7 year old girls in tow, taking one meal off their list was the least we could do.

As I was cleaning up from prep, my wife just handed me a list of 5 things to do.
4 I can bang out in about 10 minutes.
Last one is going to take about 4-5 hours.WTH....  I need to be clever on how I am going to get out of doing that last one as it is BS if I am going to do it and let it eat up my entire Sunday.

Why not try to nicely ask her to help you out since you are “real busy” doing ribs. You can do the ribs and the first four chores if she can just help and pick up the slack by tackling the fifth one for you. Once she balks at the effort and commitment required, you have an established way out handed right to you.
