@nolaegghead Apparently GA is a county by county basis as it pertains to hurricane strapping and mechanical equipment. 
To better answer, it is not known if the original contractor installed the equipment with hurricane clips or straps. Why?  The roof had leaks so the roofing contractor had to redo the entire roof on this side of the building. Thus they would've had to lift each piece up one by one. Needless to say the roofer didn't strap jack diddly squat down. Those three pieces weren't the only one's that took a tumble. There is actually 18 pieces of refrigeration equipment on that roof and it all looked like that picture.

@theyolksonyou - Regarding kids and the fridge door:  I would ask them (and SWMBO as well) if they had ever seen a fridge door hinge fail.  Of course the answer was always "no."  I would then suggest they increase the frequency of door cycling.  I don't think the message ever registered.  Good luck.
