There was lots of other food, and some drinks, and some more drinks, and after posting this, I'm going to have another drink.

@Jeremiah - I am quite sure your ban is very restrictive.  That said, we are under one here, but it does not include fires for food consumption.  May be worth an inquiry-
With that setting, you clearly don't need the BGE to have a great weekend but it can sure provide great groceries as you well know.  FWIW-

@lousubcap not sure. In all honesty, we are trying a bare bones trip here. Didn't even bring a cooler. Trying to find a happy median between packing light and bring the house with us. (Last trip we brought the mm, deep fryer, and pit barrel.) Debating leaving the mm in the camper permanently. We'll see.

@Jeremiah ; No run-time with the MM but sounds like a solid option however, you know your cooker demands.  Gotta admit you were much more industrious with that travel-pack on your prior road-trip.
And the PBC is definitely a different approach- I really like the fire and forget for any poultry and pork rib cooks. Big proteins, not so much.  But it has a place in the arsenal-and fortunately for me I am at the end of the acquisition line.
Have a great and relaxing (same thing?) weekend.  But since I'm here, how were those PBC turkeys received at work?

Thankfully they turned out perfect. Took a little longer than expected (5 hrs) but everyone was happy. Brought it home and did two breasts for the family, done early but pure rubber for skin. Still scratching my head on that one. While we're at it, how about that Lang???

Finishing up 160/160 hrs with my BSN student.  She was an absolute joy to watch grow, and hold it down under immense pressures.

Bosslady approached me a few days ago, said she applied for one of our night shift positions, because of me....meant a lot.

This was so unnecessary, but so thoughtful.
Looking forward to being her preceptor on days after boards, and getting report from her in the near future mornings.

Fills my tank, helping new nurses, build the skills to help others.  My Spring semester student is rockin' it, on Onc, in the Shy.

They really made my role a cakewalk.  Both bright rockstars.

Sucks, I'm gonna have to actually work now. lol

@Jeremiah - never anything close to the rubber skin on the PBC.  We all sweat it with the BGE because of the moisture retention properties but if I am gonna crank out chix in any volume then the PBC gets the call.  As with any cook, the protein has such a factor and so hard to address going in.  Glad it was a work success-family will forgive, and with where you are right now- you could likely toss up hot-dogs and be a hero.
The Lang-let me preface this with the fact that I recall you are interested in building a stick burner and you have the skills to deliver.  I have been attracted to learning how to mange a wood fired smoker for years.  And it is a totally different animal.  Needs care and feeding almost continuously-I knew that going in.  The challenge of fire, air and fuel (wood sticks) management is something I wanted to deal with first-hand.  I'm only six cooks in across the protein spectrum and still having fun.  (The main end-result).  But no doubt the true measure will be with the snow falling and temps in the single digits.  My one last Q challenge.  And I would not have wanted to wonder about it...  FWIW-
