What heat pump system did you go with? Mine was installed a month ago and I’m thoroughly unsatisfied and worried about it long term. It has hardly any of the features that were advertised and seems like the manufacturer doesn’t even know how it is supposed to work, let alone the instal company.Botch said:The good news: my credit card issuer is on the ball.
The bad news: another credit card terminated, third in 3 years. This time it was a US transaction at a WallyWorld for $200-something, wonder how they caught that (last year it was a shoe purchase in Rio de Janeiro). New card in 7-10 days, EweTube TV already sent an email to update my CC info, and of course the "Refill Gas" idiot light went off this afternoon. Sigh.
EDIT: Oh, and my expensive heat pump/furnace system quit again, 3rd time since installation last August. Hottest day of the year, of course. -

Mitsubishi H2i with intelliheat. All I wanted was a mini split for the sunroom we love but it snowballed (of course) into a heat pump system for the house that necessitated a new auxiliary furnace. All capped off by a super crummy install. It’s the dumbest most basic control system I’ve ever seen in something that advertises itself as being feature rich.DoubleEgger said: -
@Botch- 7-10 days for the replacement card in way too long. Once adjudicated it should be an overnight deal-weekends excepted. Time to shop around IMO.
I have never relied on one credit card-gotta have a back-up plan. FWIW-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint. -
Mine is a Lennox, I thought it was a longtime/reliable brand. The thermostat unit on my wall is a touch-screen POS, it will not read my fingertip, at all (my credit union's ATMs have the same issue; I have "zombie finger" (yes it is a thing); I do have an aluminum stylus with a rubber tip that registers mostly). The installers were not able to make it connect to my WIFI, nor were the subsequent "repairmen", and I haven't either after trying several times.Campbell2N said:

I'm "thoroughly unsatisfied and worried", too; that was a butt-load of cash...

Ugh that sucks @Botch. We had to help the installer set our system up as well. Had no clue how to do any of the networking and basically threw his hands up and was happy to let the customer do his job. Still waiting to hear back from the company owner…I assume we’ll be holding our breath until we turn purple.Botch said:

I hope it gets worked out for you! Sorry to derail the thread everyone. -
Don't be; this thread is kind of a "cocktail party" thing where random subjects become major multi-page topics of discussion, and I usually learn a lot from them.Campbell2N said:

It's now 92º in the house, but one more hour and it'll be cooler outside and I can turn on the sprinklers (TG not on the internet), open a few windows and set up some fans. With my old HVAC system, when a capacitor or coolant line went out, I could at least turn on the fan overnight to bring in the night desert air; not so with this *%^%&# internet system that won't connect to the internet.“The best way to execute french cooking is to get good and loaded and whack the hell out of a chicken."

Yeah we already handcuffed the system and went back to an “inferior” thermostat instead of the wireless controller because it would not run the fan unless the coolant was flowing. The little old thermostat has so many more features and diagnostics.Botch said:

Sorry to hear that. Mitsubishi generally makes some decent stuff. Installation is everything when it comes to those style units.Campbell2N said:

I don’t think so. I don’t think anyone ever wins the Cricket Derby, it goes on in perpetuity. But the Stanley Cup is different. I’m sorry that Arizona has(d) a sorry a$$ owner and lost their team.Ozzie_Isaac said:Did we win the cricket Super Bowler yet?Las Vegas, NV -
Charlotte Airport area is worse than I've experienced in a while. Uber eats couldn't find the hotel or the order so I didn't get the food. They were successful at charging the card though and showed the car all around the hotel. The neighboring hotel restaurant that was my last hope after the Uber fail ended up with them starting to tell me what they didn't have. They were changing the menu. The one thing they did have was a pasta dish which they didn't have ten minutes after ordering it 😁 The burger was good but dang

The US have not made it through to the semi-fainalks, or have been ejected as perhaps you guys might say? So no US, therefore it can't be referred to as a 'World' cup anymore.Ozzie_Isaac said:Did we win the cricket Super Bowler yet?
Thursday is the semi-finals featuring;
South Africa - serial competition chokers, vs Afghanistan - yes that same Afghanistan that used to be in the news a lot
India - the spiritual owners of all things T20 vs England, plucky England with their fish'n'chips and teeth.
Absolutely anyones guess who will win.
Other girls may try to take me away
But you know, it's by your side I will stay -
With the popularity of the ductless vs ducted systems over the last 10 years there are s a shift in the business “ model” to that of the bic lighter , when it breaks you just replace it , especially with the “ on line brands “ these things phase out quicker than computers with pre planned obsolescenceDoubleEgger said:

we are changing systems out that are literally a few years old “ no parts “
the worst offenders are the DIY minis , while there are plenty of people that are more than capable ( a not to @nolaegghead ) overall we just won’t touch them . The phone calls are endless “ can you come start up the ac I just installed “ we did in the beginning, now it’s a hard no.I love the inverted technology, and Mitsubishi is solid , I’m just not seeing the longevity in any of them yetVisalia, Ca @lkapigian -

Pretty happy with those , We are a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer and that model is one of my new favorites, can be installed Ducted or Ductless . Also has the High Heat option which eliminates ( in most cases ) the need for back up heat whether it name gas or electricalaskanassasin said:My FIL just had one of these installed, it’s funky looking.
