I think I coincidentally have a garden hose hooked to a hydrant that would reach, but in the 30 seconds it would have taken to run it out and work out kinks it might have been too late. If I would have had to start it to get it away from my shop I would have already called the boys with the big hoses because the radiator fan would have, well, fanned the flames.

its a good idea to attach 2 extinguishers to the welder, that way one can be moved to the source of the welding flame/arc. better safe than sorry. most of my fire watches are performed by a city fireman detail. he comes pretty much with a cell phone to call the the firestation ......

I like that idea @fishlessman. usually I have a hose close by and sometimes soak the surroundings especially if there are voids.South of Columbus, Ohio.

Was at the lab this morning. This genXer ahead of me failed to fast, when told he can be tested for everything but needs another visit for the 'sugar' test, he goes I just had a black coffee, there was no sugar in it

we use a fire extinguisher maybe once every 20 years, usually to put out a rag in a cement bunker were they hid the industrial boiler. i dont want to add how much thats cost me over the years with permits, firefighters reading the paper in the next room while on watch, certifying extinguishers, shop inspections, osha compliance etc. well osha wasnt bad, we watched a cartoon and signed off on it at the firestation

No. Was just curious. I am often a bit wary of Solar and batteries, because I feel like mileage varies significantly. Just wanted to see how you were making out. Pretty well, it seems.@Canugghead said:

Surprisingly no. In my line of work, much like yours, things are constantly going wrong, modus operandi. What gets me going is when things actually work!kl8ton said:South of Columbus, Ohio. -
To be fair it's not the panel's fault though, I blame the poor location.Canugghead said:

OTOH I have a motion activated solar flood light in front, it has been running close to two year and still as bright as ever. Not surprised since it gets full sun most of the day and only comes on at night when triggered.canuckland -
Spent an hour watching a bear in Jasper National Park

@Stormbringer
Bet it was a great visit. I’ve been within striking distance but haven’t had the opportunity to visit the park. Would love to do it on a road trip to the West coast. One day. -

Funny you should post that; I was just thinking that I needed to revisit my understanding of nano-pulse lithotripsy. -
Maybe, but the Cayenne S will be nothing but a memory in 50 years, and your research will still be blasting gall stones.JohnInCarolina said:

I once tried to explain to my wife that I was working on papers that people will be reading 100 years from now, and she just laughed at me. I got the Jennifer Lawrence “yeah, sure, ok” look.Ozzie_Isaac said:

Little piece of peace tonight and airing the house out being that it’s cool this evening. Hummingbirds, red birds and blue birds earlier. Cicadas and crickets tonight with deer walking through. Some fireflies although those have about dwindled away for the year. Sometimes calm and simplicity is good therapy for the soul, considering the traffic of life’s chaos.

@Dyal_SC
I often see claims that connecting with nature is great for you. I value the green space around me and spend as much time with open doors and windows as I can - just to take in fresh air and the sounds of nature.Your evening sounds picturesque to me. -
LOL, I read the first line of the title and was like, “Nope, I am definitely not smart enough to attempt to read the rest of that.”JohnInCarolina said:

I told my wife the same thing. I'm writing things that people will be reading 100 years from now. She hit me with a stick I keep by the bathroom to scratch my bum with, and also to push my socks down. Hell, I just realized why sometimes the tops of my socks smell like sh!t. I'm glad you posted that John, I would never have figured this out if you didn't write that paper. You're doing good work.
