I tried to go talk to this guy today because his messaging seemed as though he wanted to be friends. No luck, nobody was home.
Selling speakers I bet.  Good deal for an extra set he had from a theater install he did.  Owner ordered to many and didn't want to hassle with rerurns.  His loss could have been your gain.

I thought he might be selling some meat. The parking lot is pretty shady.

I'm just shy of 600.  I can't imagine just pushing a pipe down.

We have caliche too, you probably couldn't even push a pipe down 3 ft.  Digging a hole here takes a jackhammer and breaker bar.

@Ozzie_Isaac - " Do they weigh you pre and post blueberry picking?  As a kid I would eat more than I put in the quarts."

Sorry , I missed your question. You would like picking at their farm. If you want to eat a berry you picked instead of putting it in your quart bucket they don't have a problem with that. He only has a small scale to measure the the bag so you would be safe.

Need to order some HVAC to get an invite.  I'm thinking it might be worth it.

@Ozzie_Isaac - You have rehearsed this enough times and gone over the "what about's" to be fully ready.  I suspect this will be his first indication of your plans.
Good luck and trust your instincts.

  • Steeling my nerves.  Scheduled  lunch today with my portfolio chief to tell him I will be resigning.
Congrats, I suppose? Are you retiring, or simply moving to a new job?

Wasted day off. Supposed to be school golf scramble. Weather forced rescheduling. Now the Sun is out. My yard is dry, we should’ve been playing

You are telling the guy that you hired to manage your portfolio that you are quitting a job unrelated to that relationship outside the job being a revenue source for investments?  Just trying to figure this out.

That is why the one-on-one lunch.  I want to have an informal talk with him.  He is a really good guy and a fantastic director.  One never knows what twists and turns will happen in the future.  Outside of my wife, I haven't discussed this with anyone, but we have been planning this for a while.  Need to just stop thinking and jump in and see if I sink or swim.

Sounds like a great pursuit and one that is very supportive of your wife. And as a perk of the job, you’ll be able to sleep with your coworkers. Congrats again.

I am moving to a new job.  Leaving corporate America to help my wife continue to build and grow her business.  Her business has reached a point where I have the option to quit, and it has also reached a plateau due mostly to lack of hours in the day. She has attempted to hire folks to fill needed roles, but her expectations haven't aligned with theirs. She usually works 16hrs a day 7 days a week.  My goal is to help her optimize, automate, and grow the backend business aspects.  That happens to be my area of expertise and what I do.  I go into teams, learn their dynamic then help them optimize and grow.  Instead of doing this for a corporation, I have decided to try it for myself and my family.  Incredibly scary move to make for a rather risk adverse security liking engineer.  However, if I stay in corporate America I can tell you exactly where I can will be in 20 years, and it is not where I want to be.
    Godspeed!!

My current employer has Portfolio Chief Engineer who manages a portfolio of products below them all within a similar family.  I am the chief engineer for one of the products in his portfolio.  I report to him on the functional side.  Then we also have the HR side of the house, but I don't feel a loyalty to discuss this with them at this time.
