Today is my Saturday. Man, what a month the last week was. Got into a little scuffle at a library that led to a pretty good felony arrest that got a gun out of the hands of someone that can’t legally posses it. Dealt with a suicide in a Walmart parking lot. All of that and more, plus two of our officers were shot yesterday serving a murder warrant. Sounds like the officers will be ok, the suspect not so much.
Yikes, glad you are ok and glad the officers serving the warrant will survive.  Stay safe out there.

Interesting situation here. Due to short supply Pfizer is reserved for 18-30, apparently 50% of folks are ‘vaccine shopping’ and walked away when Moderna was offered. We’re good with triple Moderna.

That’s odd. Moderna recipients retain higher antibody rates for longer than with Pfizer.

I’m guessing (uneducated) folks are scared by report of blood clots caused by Moderna in the early days, especially in younger crowd hence reserving Pfizer for them.

Mixed messaging I am sure has hampered roll out.  So many different things being said.  I think most folks are sticking with same brand as first 2 shots.

@Battleborn - no doubt not too atypical of the situations you and your fellow officers confront all the time.  Society is fortunate to have you on the front line.
Stay healthy and safe out there-

The blood clots were Johnson & Johnson or AstraZeneca. Moderna was rare cases of generally mild heart inflammation in young males.

That would be pretty epic. But it was just a guy being an a-hole and told another patron that he would shoot them. Partner and I got there and told him to come outside with us and to not touch the knife he had on his hip. He told us he would touch the knife if he wanted and took a bit of fighting stance. Partner sprayed him with some OC spray and we moved in. Once the spray activated, he changed his attitude pretty quickly and he was taken into custody without further incident.

Turned out to be a convicted felon that had a firearm in his backpack. If he simply would have left when we told him to, he would have gotten away without any charges. Some people just don’t know when to quit.
It's astounding to me how many people who are actively breaking the law like that or trafficking drugs that get caught for reasons completely in their control like speeding, rolling stops, driving with lights off or broken, etc.   Just gotta watch yourself and be cool like Fonzie, but no...it's weaponized stupidity.

Policy here is Az + Az + either Pfizer or Moderna. The studies here give a % benefit over 3 x Pfizer or Moderna. We had the Moderna as booster.

Got blood work back from one of my pups.  Turns put he is just fat.  Was worries he had Valley Fever or Thyroid problem.  He just has an "I sees it I eats it" problem.  I have always free fed my dogs (7 and counting) and never had one that would just eat and eat and eat.  Makes it hard now, need to put him up when I feed the other dogs and no more just leaving food out.

We had to transition too. One dog is not an eater. puppy eats and eats and eats.  I have them trained to sit and wait their turn now.  The non eater has transformed into a dog that eats until the bowl is gone.

Just learned the screenshot button combo on my phone also hangs up the phone.  Not normally a big deal, but had been on hold for 18minutes and was next in line.  All of that wasted time just to post a carefully cultivated news article in the OT section of the forum.

Right now I am recuperating from all the work I had to do to clean up the house after four guys came in to cut and remove 12" wide sections of concrete slab:

That is the machine that powers the very large saw being used to cut into the shower area behind that window. The hoses go thru the back door off the shower/bath/bedroom area. The home had been converted from a 2 bedroom 1 master suite to a 2 master suite configuration at some time.

Shower done. Lots of mud from the saw and water slurry that didn't get picked up by the wet dry vac being used in the above picture.

The shower area used to be part of the two back bedrooms. For some reason there's a another slab under this one. May have happen when the house was originally built in 1968.

This was SWMBO's make-up area on the other side of the shower

The bathroom next to the exterior wall. The door from the second picture above is on the same wall as this room and a closet is to the right of the cut out area. The cast iron pipe from the toilet goes under the closet wall.

Make-up area is to the right, closet to the left.

The closet area, toilet pipe joins up here; main sewer line at left comes from the original master suite.

The other side of the closet, the original master suite bedroom. When the crew got to this point they shut of the machine powering the saw, disconnected the saw, ran the hoses thru the bedroom window and reconnected the saw in the room.

The rest of the original master suite. Master bathroom door is at the end where that last piece of cut concrete sits. Plumber requested the crew not cut all the way thru to prevent any possible accidental cutting of a water line.

The plumber will be here tomorrow to start putting in 3" diameter PVC sewer line. My understanding is that the entire trench is offset from the original 4" CI sewer line, that will be abandoned in place. I believe the original connection point is to the right of the trench and the plumber will make an offset connection after he cuts the CI pipe. We'll see.

Then we wait for termite spray and city inspection before the concrete crew comes in to close up the trench. I will be without shower or bathroom for one or two days, if the inspection happens in a timely manner.

  • @SamIAm2: Glad to see the crew is in action. I don’t know…. But two days sounds like a long time without answering nature’s calls! I take it you have another bathroom, or accommodating neighbours? Perhaps your “2 master suite” configuration also implies two ensuites - I am not really familiar with the strict definition. Hopefully, the work will be swift and you’ll soon be back to dust-free living!
