I’d fight for a discount and a replacement door. Side will be hidden. How’s it your fault their delivery company is incompetent?

I could send the whole thing back if I wanted to, but I've waited since December on it and I'm really hoping to avoid that.  They said they'll cover a 5 year extended warranty, replace the door and paneling. I wasn't able to spend much time with it before I had to leave for work, so I'm hoping the door's scruff is superficial. I'll check more when I get home.

The delivery guys dropped the oven down our front steps. Just managed to let go of the dolly and down it went.  Dinged up the side pretty good and scuffed up the side of the custom painted door.

This sucks!  I saw the delivery fee of $400 for the 48" 8burner dual oven Wolf and was like pffffft  - I'll pick it up myself.

I borrowed a company van.  Dealer loaded oven in van with forklift.  We backed up up to the porch where we had some nice new double doors leading into the main living space with access to kitchen.  I had 3 guys.  We could barely get it to move.  I then googled the weight of the beast.  700lbs.  I called more guys.  Was not fun.  Instantly, I regretted not having the dealer deliver and install.

Bummed.  Our mission trip to Guatemala has been postponed again due to covid.  Things were looking good.  Guatemala has had a recent surge in cases and deaths, and are far less equipped to handle it than we are.  Guatemalan president has just declared a new state of emergency.

Mines just a 30" and I was shocked at how impossibly heavy it felt. I couldn't imagine the weight of a 48".  These things aren't lined with steel plate so I'm not sure where the weight comes from.

I think there is fire brick or refractory cement or something like that insulating it.  You spend 9 extra thousand dollars in these stoves to save 400 dollars in gas over 10 years.  😁

Our new Bluestar range that we ordered back in December is finally arriving today.  This is the 20 year old gas hookup line that was connected to our old range. Is there any reason to replace it while I'm at it?

i had to upsize the line to 3/4 inch for my cluny, upload an installation manual for the bluestar and see what it says. the cluny would probably be fine with 1/2 inch but i wanted to make sure the wok burner would get hot enough if i was running most of the burners. i froze the propane regulator in the winter with the stove so the gas company installed one of those that was bigger as well

I think I'm going to have to upsize also. My current gas line is 3/8" (I think) and slightly too small to thread onto the 1/2" pipe on the back of the range.

One thing that's confusing me. The instructions recommend upsizing the gas line by 1/4". How does that work? I would install a 3/4" gas line then step it back down to 1/2" at the inlet of the range? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the extra 1/4"?

The gas supply line must be the same size or larger than the gas inlet of the appliance. Your appliance has either a ½” NPT or ¾” NPT gas inlet connection. It is recommended that the supply line be ¼” NPT larger than the gas inlet of the appliance. If the gas supply line is not sufficiently sized, the operation of the appliance may be affected.

thats how mine was written. i believe its simplified for a typical home, bigger systems have to be compensated for other gas hogging systems, length of piping, how many valves, tees, elbows etc. typical house has stove, boiler, dryer and it could be the extra 1/4 inch diameter is just to compensate for those items adding to the pressure drop

Many gas appliances/devices are like that.  It has to do with volume.  My pool heater for a 45,000 gallon pool required a 1" line because of the distance of the run and the number of 90 degree bends required.  It necks down to 1/2" for the last 12 inches where it connects to the heaters regulator/valve.  It's math.  Math is hard.

Interesting.  I guess I need to replace the whole line with 3/4" then.

Another thing that's confusing me is the difference between I/D and O/D. The shutoff valve has 1/2" written on it, so I thought it would be big enough for the 1/2" inlet on my new range. However, my old flex gas line that hooks up to that valve is 3/8" I/D & 1/2" O/D.  Are valves measured in Outside Diameter? So confused.

pipe is measured by the id, tube by the od. fitting on that valve is a flare for compression, not a pipe. assuming stove has a pipe connector, so you need a fitting that connects to the flex line. on the pipe threads use a pipe dope for gas like gasoila.  i would recommend getting a plumber though but the directions are right there on the tag

that is good for about 50K-85 KBTU only , we use 5/8 OD 1/2 " Id will get you 150KBTU @ 24 "

This is the old flex line I'm planning to replace.  I'm assuming I need to replace not just this flex line for a larger size, but the whole gas run to the range?  If the valve says 1/2" does that mean my gas line is 1/2"?

Yes, the gas line is 1/2 " and the flex is 1/2 OD 3/8 ID....you can get a 5/8 OD gas flex and valve that will have a 1/2" FPT and will get you 150 KBTU with a 24" flex

Y’all been a big help. I’m headed to the pipe supply house now. Is the 5/8” flex all I need? Or will I need any adapter for either the male end of the 1/2” valve or the inlet pipe on the range? do I need to change the valve size too? Sorry for all the questions but this is all new to me.
