@NPHuskerFL This is for you. 100k friends and I stopped at the Husker stadium this evening. First time in a 100 years a concert was hosted at Memorial Stadium. Garth Brooks was a treat to say the least.

Almost 1am and close to 6 hours from home on a party bus. Turns out someone here on the bus lives two miles from me. Small world.

Being mad and scared all at the same time. Very good friend of mine and neighbor admitted to the hospital yesterday morning. Day 13 of COVID. He’s 42. Physically fit. Social drinker non smoker. Pneumonia COVID combo. On oxygen and IV meds. Feeling better, but not out of the woods…great wife and two young girls….unvaccinated.

I understand. Currently I have: an aunt and uncle, a cousins wife, a nieces cop boyfriend all with Covid and all unvaccinated. All are getting the infusion but it was a totally unnecessary risk and expense. I also have an uncle in a hospital to have a brain tumor removed tomorrow who is unvaccinated. Because of all off these Covid cases we had to cancel my parents 65th anniversary cookout. We had already limited it to the aunts and uncles and my sisters and the local nieces and nephews and planned for it to be outside. My parents are vaccinated, because I drove them to each and every shot and got vaccinated myself the next day.

Stopped at Smokey D's in Des Moines this weekend.

    Some of their hardware.

I had to get their ribs but I also tried their smoked deep fried wings this time. I don't think I've ever had wings that were smoked in the smoker and than deep fried. It really locked in that smoke flavor after being deep fried.

Hope you enjoyed the trip and your time in Lincoln.
There have been other concerts/events held in Memorial Stadium prior to this one.  I saw Farm Aid III there, back in '87 for example.  The Garth concert was the first time legal alcohol has been sold/consumed in the stadium, so you were part of that.   🙂

Thanks! Garth must have been miss informed as I read that the last concert held there was the Farm Aid that you attended. We chatted with a couple Nebraska residents next to us and they also mentioned it was the first time beer was sold there. I bet they made a killing on beer sales. $10/24oz. Which is super cheap for a concert. We had a great time. Everyone was very welcoming from Omaha to Lincoln. What a great host city!

I was dealing with a destructive chipmunk problem a couple years ago. So I bought a small live trap. Caught the first chipmunk and thought I would do the right thing and took it to a local park that had a wooded area. Got the trap out of the truck, carried it a nice little green pasture space, let the little guy out and he went frolicking towards the woods when a hawk swooped down and got him. I had to find a new spot for my T&R effort.

neighbor turned me in for catching and releasing squirrels a few years back, just a warning but from then on they drowned. learning to live with the racoons now, they live in the neighbors house on the other side of my house. they ate every asian pear off one of my trees last week except for the 2 i ate

    No smoke yet, actually! 😂

We moved into an older home in which most of the electrical was redone, but the kitchen is woefully inadequate. Most of those appliances are to be used one at a time (e.g., blender, espresso machine, toaster, etc.) so we haven’t had an issue yet. We have an electrician we quite like who’s done many jobs here, but this one is still in the queue.

Love that movie. Watch it at least once ever Christmas. While I’d love to give Clark credit for the idea, the mess you see is unfortunately of my own creation.

Boat trailer axle disintegrated.  I was going to replace the entire thing but a replacement 3500 lb axle with springs is about $440.   Other than one spindle and hub, it's not in bad shape so I think I'm just going to cut off the old spindle and weld a new one on.

Sadness! Just put 2 new tires on one of my boat trailers, 8 ply radials, $187.00. Got to buy 3 more for another boat that we travel with. Sucks and I feel your pain.
I drink cheap beer so I can afford good bourbon.

  • Morning bike ride. Got wifey a carbon fibre ride, so I’m now relegated to using my alloy to pull little man. Taking my wife for her first multi hour ride this coming weekend. We’re going to stop at a riverside pub for a drink and maybe a meal on the water.

Came home and threw together a spaghetti sauce to be served over spaghetti squash. Wifey didn’t believe it would all fit. I like to live on the edge and I live to rattle her nerves.

After a long Saturday night and a trip back to MN on Sunday my buddies and I stopped at a walk up diner in Iowa on the way home. I've had a hankering for a Sloppy Joe for quite some time and I notice this particular diner had Sloppy Joe sliders. So I order four Sloppy Joe sliders. Let's just say these Sloppy Joe sliders were less than satisfying. (I'm far from a Sloppy Joe snob. I'll eat Manwich Sloppy Joes all day long.) With not necessarily full filling my itch with the sliders, I was set to make something a little better than yesterday's lunch.

I had to make my own pile of Sloppy Joes. My wife wasn't very interested in onions, jalapenos, with a Carolina sauce. She went with a premade Sloppy Joe mix:

I needed something a little more. No premade Sloppy Joe here.

I shredded some smoked gouda and toasted the buns with garlic butter.

Dinner was just a Sloppy Joes. I scratched my itch and should be good for awhile.

I’m not sure what ingredients go into a sloppy joe, TBH, but I was thinking today how the spaghetti sauce I made could do double duty in this regard.
