Split some wood yesterday about 50 feet from this pile. While doing that, I had some pork belly burnt ends going. So I was wheelbarrowing it over load by load this morning to stack. Truth told, about 1/3 of the rear row was there from 3 years ago. Being in the shade slows drying down significantly. Oak takes long as it is.
But I got this smaller stack of rounds done. The entire back and the front right row is all oak. The left side of the front row is maple. Will see it again the winter of 2022-2023 - maybe. I got a new stove and the burn time is now about 35-40% longer than the 40 year old model I was using for the last 20 years. May not see it to 2023-2024. @alaskanassasinTime for a beer.--------------------------------------------------

@Sea2Ski- nicely done with the wood and those burnt ends are quite a reward. They look incredible. Your wood piling completely justifie the calories inhaling the burnt ends.

Needed posts to hang some lights, was lazy and cheap and didn't want to go buy some t-posts. Have a fence on the other side of my property I want to take down anyway, so removed part of that fence and used the t-posts to hang the lights. Is a temporary deal, but worked out well.

One of the wires going into my trucks trailer plug was stripped. I removed the hitch to get the best access to replace/solder in a 🆕 plug. Since I had the hitch off I figured it was time to take the angle grinder to it and remove the rust and cheap flaking paint off it. I hit it with some black primer and a couple top coats of bed liner. I'm hoping the rust stays away for a year or two.

My nieces stayed with us this weekend. My wife promised them Dairy Queen if they helped with a couple chores around the house.
I stayed back to clean up the garage while they walked up to Dairy Queen. My sister-in-law is pregnant and she tries to keep their family outside of buildings as much as possible. Our local Dairy Queen has been awesome during the pandemic. We have ridden our bikes and even walked through the drive thru without having to go inside. So it worked out perfect for our nieces. So my wife and nieces order 3 dilly bars. They walk up to the window to pay and the employee mentioned the car in front of them paid for it. The employee said, "Would you like to pay it forward for the next car?" My wife said, "Sure!" She said she noticed it was only one person in the car waiting behind them. The Dairy Queen employee goes, "His total is $19. Are you okay with that?" My wife wasn't expecting a $19 order but she said why not. Let's do something nice for someone else as she explained it to our nieces. A nice teaching lesson. They collected their dilly bars and went on their merry way.
My wife said a car pulled up next to them a few blocks away. It turned out to be the guy behind them in line. He said he couldn't accept my wife paying his tab. My wife declined his money attempt and said they were happy to pay it forward. My wife said the guy had tears in his eyes for them being so grateful. He kept insisting they they take the money. My wife declined. He said take the money and use it on the girls. My wife said thanks but no thanks and it was a treat on them. The guy says, "I'm going to drop the money, roll my window up, and drive off if you don't grab it. He puts the money in her hand and thanks her once again and saying how nice that was and made his day and drove off. My wife goes to put the cash in her pocket and sees it's a $50 bill! She couldn't believe it.
My nieces have decided that they want to donate the $50 towards the local animal shelter. Pretty special to see a 7 and 9 year old wanting to help others out with the $50. How cool is that!"The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

Watching the Grammies. I'm not into "award" shows, but since retiring from playing in a band on weekends, and getting SiriusXM, I don't follow "popular" music much anymore, but its good to hear what's going on in that world every once in awhile.
And, while only 45 minutes in, its been nothing BUT pop; do they not present classical, jazz, Latin, country, opera, or Hungarian Acid Polka anymore? I haven't heard anything, yet, that I'd like to look into a bit more (however, the night is but a pup). We'll see.
I did see that, earlier, one of my favorite bands got a Contemporary Instrumental Grammy; congrats Snarky Puppy!
EDIT: Okay, will be checking into a duo called "SilkSonic", Bruno Mars and some other crooner; very nice! And, they're now doing some country, so I just needed to be patient.

We have enjoyed our napoleon, though I buy baffles every few years. The story: We had friends of my wife over one night about 4 years ago. I had my stove going and the guy loved the heat. He loved it so much, about a week later he came over to learn more about it. I talked him through the basics and he was hooked. He went out and bought a Jotul F500 that spring and had it installed. He burned 1/2 cord that winter through it as he only lit it on weekends for some reason. That spring he was diagnosed with ALS. Months later in early October he invited us over and he had the stove ready to go. He asked me to light it. Once it got going, he asked me if I liked lighting my new stove. It was too much work for him already and he knew I wanted a new one. He insisted I take it because he knew I would love it. As he got worse, I went over a few times and lit if for him as he was confined to his chair. He gave me crap about it and I told him I just wanted a fire in my stove.
Fast forward, it took me two years to swap mine out, but just did. It barely fit.
