Good on you, Captain.
Today I finally tried out my grilling mats. I had originally purchased a set to grill things like asparagus and green beans, which always manage to spin on me and drop thru a normal grate.
Watched a Rick Bayless video the other day, and he grilled his salsa cruda ingredients on one, what a great idea! He also grilled the tomatoes on it, then pulled the whole sheet off the grill and onto a sheet pan. I had already grilled the 'maters on the grate, was peeling them while this stuff cooked:
On the Small, at least, the grate needs to be at the felt line, obviously. I was wondering what tool I could use to cut the mat into a circular shape, then I realized:
Hah! I just closed the lid on the mat. No, it's not an airtight fit, but for quickly grilling something, that doesn't matter. I also realized I could pick the whole mat up with opposing corners (they weren't hot) and dumped all the food into my bowl, very quick. This will work great for mushrooms, shrimp, etc.
Hopefully they'll also clean easier than my wire basket (they'll certainly fit in the sink easier, being flexible). Glad I got them.___________"When small men begin to cast big shadows, it means that the sun is about to set."

A garage freezer really needs a lock on it. Back in the 70’s a neighbor’s kid robbed our freezer and threw a barbecue for his friends. What he didn’t know is that we were on the lower end of middle class. That half a beef in there was supposed to last us most of a year. That is when I learned about baked beans on toast.

Our freezer is huge and I set it up so the door will close naturally, plus nothing yummy for the kids to snack on. Just meat and veggies.Maybe your purpose in life is only to serve as an example for others? - LPL
