    I officially made the switch over to Supertech (Walmart) oil in my truck. When I bought my truck from the previous owner I switched over to Mobil 1 for the first few years of ownership. I got sick of paying Mobil 1 prices and switched over to Valvoline synthetic. Which was on par and some test proved better than Mobile 1. Now Valvoline is only a few bucks shy of Mobil 1 pricing.

    I've read and watched all kinds of testing between Supertech and the other big names in synthetic oil. It pretty much runs with Mobil 1 in testing. Supertech is produced through Warren oil. They've been around since 1922. I also use Supertech oil filters. I've been using those for the past few years. (They're made by WIX) 5 qts of oil and a filter for $18.

    It's probably placebo but I swear my engine was running quiter after making the switch. Again probably placebo but I noticed it without even thinking about it. (If that makes sense)

    Would I run it in a drag or track car? No. Will it work for the general public? Apparently so. I think almost any oil nowadays is descent as long as you change it routinely.

    My father is an eminently wise and logical man in all areas. When talking to him about conventional vs. synthetic for daily driver vehicles, his take was that more frequently changed, cleaner oil was more beneficial than being able to run dirty oil for longer periods (i.e., better to spend less on conventional but change it with greater frequency). I therefore tend to think I should buy the cheapest oil that meets the grade and change it with frequency. Guess that means I’ll never buy Royal Purple.

    People think lump threads here are bad, they've probably never seen oil fights. Everyone has the right answer when it comes to oil.

    My only real concern is that I change the oil myself. I visually see what goes into my vehicle. My friend brought his truck into Jiffy Lube and ran into a couple of his students working there. They pulled my friend aside and said not to ever bring his vehicle into Jiffy Lube unless they're the ones working on it. They didn't trust anyone else at the shop wrenching on it. I'm not saying every Jiffy Lube is bad but when you have their own employees saying something that isn't good.

    This was my Dad's wisdom, too, and it still makes sense to me.  Ironically, when I bought my new Audi, they wouldn't change my oil (even during the break-in period!) until 10K miles!  This makes no sense to me (and the owner's manual doesn't even tell me where the oil drain plug is, gah!)
    I stupidly used a 2-story-tall Cadillac SUV thingie's trailer hitch to crumple up my grill, hood, both headlights, and hopefully nothing else a few days ago.  So, the titillating newness is over now.  Will see how long She lasts.  :cry:

    Cheeky beers on a school night, kind of….  Still on a mission to physically ruin all PL footballers another round of matches tonight.

    First point fo order though - well done Stoke for taking a 1-0 away win at the league leaders last night. Great result @Eoin =)

    Villa v Watford - big game at the bottom of the league,  could be a defining moment for Watford as a win will see them ease away from the relegation zone and push the hosts further in to the mire.  But I fancy Villa to get something here.  Brutal 1-1.

    Bournemouth v Brighton  - hosts really in the doo-doo,  wheels are coming off. Gifting a win to the wretched Seagulls will be disappointing.   But it will probably happen.  0-1.

    Palace v Southampton - we took the lead, then came back to draw up at Citeh, to effectively end their vague hopes of the title and show off our new found stubbornness.   Saints capitulated badly to Wolves, having been 2 up at half time.  Usually feisty affairs, would love us to edge it and nudge closer to PL safety.  Draw feels most likely though. 1-1

    Everton v Newcastle - both now comfy in mid-table.  Home win I think, albeit a very bland match. 1-0 Toffees.

    Sheff Utd v Man City,  the home team will be well up for this and fancy getting something.  All results equally possible, 2-2 because I can’t decide.

    Chelsea v Arsenal,  the Arteta bounce has not really happened for the Gunners.  Goals here, as neither are robust at the back. 3-1 Blues.

    Tomorrow night;

    Leicester v West Ham - the Foxes are in a funk and need to rediscover some the pep and zing they had pre-Christmas.  West Hame will offer that platform.  2-0 home win.

    Spurs v Norwich - Jose has dulled Spurs, the honeymoon is over. The Canaries will be eyeing a chance of at least a point. But it’ll be a 2-1 home win.

    Man Utd v Burnley - hapless versus the under performers.  Buoyed by their late winner at Leicester, the visitors will fancy this.  Utd have now broken Rashford and their band of misfits look even more disjointed.  They just want the seasons to end and Poch’ to take over.  1-1.

    Thursday;

    Wolves v Liverpool - the Reds just roll on.  There’s talk of the victory lap having started.  This will be a spirited encounter but end in an away win.  0-2.

    Then it’s the FA Cup 4th Round on the weekend, or ‘city break style trip to Dubai’ as the Palace team call it having ‘unfortunately’  lost  their 3rd Round loss.

    Other girls may try to take me away
    But you know, it's by your side I will stay

    Cheap oil gets old faster, so the value calculation isn't a simple one. Apart from in my old VW camper, where the leaks mean that the cheap oil is always fresh.
