I shave my palms.  I'm sphere -6.5 or so, so pretty thick, but I pay for that fancy high index of refraction plastic lenses.

I guess diopter measurements just aren't that funny.  But we can compensate with something like:

I too had dual astigmatism. I couldn't even walk around my own house without glasses. Imagine walking down a side alley in Baghdad knowing that if your glasses break or fall of, you are helpless. Not fun.
