Can I ask? I know everyone here has great ideas, I'm wondering what you would cook for a competition? My first thought is bake sourdough bread and use them for chilly bowls, cook some chilly in a DO, and then do like a cobbler in a CI skillet. Its fast and not much time to prepare. I would like to get some input on what you think. What would you do? Looking for ideas, cant take all day, just a matter of a few hours and I won't be monitoring it the whole time. Thanks

Why not try some rib eyes like @Bowhunr---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Well, "spa-Peggy" is kind of like spaghetti. I'm not sure what Peggy does different, if anything. But it's the one dish she's kind of made her own.____________________Aurora, Ontario, Canada

if its a chili contest that sounds great but if its not, chili is a tough call. some like it hot, others dont, some require beans, others no beans etc

How about doing a pork butt, then making homemade tortillas for some carnitas? You could pre-make two kinds of salsa and have all the toppings. Here is my post from doing both. Pulled Pork one day / Carnitas the nextLarge & Small BGE, CGW Two-Tier Swing Rack for BOTH EGGS, Spider for the Wok, eggCARTen & and Cedar Pergola my Eggs call home in Edmond, OK.

are there rules in the contest. things that come to mind with the sourdough are lobster dip and cioppino. problem is that here in newengland those would work but elswhere maybe not so much. maybe even some type of small bread bowl fondue

If you don't pay for the food, get something that is high $$/lb. Ribeye's, beef tenderloin, good tuna, prime rib, thick lamb chops, grilled lobster, etc could all be good.

if somebody else is paying, i would go for the cioppino, check these out, its got eye appeal. grandpasgrub does it in the egg, theres a recipe posted somewhere

Paella on the LBGE! would be a good one but you will be tied to the egg.@smokesniffer 's Pork Tenderloin with Black Berry Sauce… pics is awesome and you could make the sauce / glaze ahead of time. Just do a couple of tenderloins.@NecessaryIndulgPancetta Wrapped Stuffed Chicken Thighs (7 pics) look pretty awesome I did chicken breasts this past weekend and they were really good.@Tjcoley 's Apple pie baked in an apple would be a awesome dessertor @Griffin 's CI Skillet Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie would be something people wouldn't expect to be made on a grill.get a couple of tri-tips and do a traditional Santa Maria Recipe Guy Fieri's recipe was the best one I have ever had let alone made myself. Those are some good ones, but I will keep thinking and let you know if I come up with anything else.Large & Small BGE, CGW Two-Tier Swing Rack for BOTH EGGS, Spider for the Wok, eggCARTen & and Cedar Pergola my Eggs call home in Edmond, OK.
