Thanks, me too.  I used just the single ThermoWorks for years, but the Javelin was on a stupid-cheep sale ($thirty-something, iirc) and figured a backup wasn't a bad idea.

Third match, but the transfer window remains open until Monday evening and then the first international break next weekend draws an end to this amuse bouche of a phase. Some early signs emerging though - mainly Man Utd are, at best, a bit odd while Chelsea are shaping up to be big contenders.  You could argue that is no surprise given the billions poured in by your-man Boehly.  And the promoted three are not the bottom three.  But, give it time.

    Saturday

Chelsea v Fulham - The surging Blues will have too much for their very near neighbours, 3-0

Man Utd v Burnley - Oh dear.  A spectacular fall from grace mid-week as Utd (squad value $1bn) were schooled day a fourth tier team (squad value $4m) and presented a hysterical/mystifying lack of cohesion.  At some point the finger has to be pointed at the manager, Amorim. How many new players need to fail?  The Clarets will fancy this and might nick a draw. 1-1

Sunderland v Brentford - The Mackems are one from two and that ratio will only slide. They might think this match offers potential for points, but the Bees really know what they are about and won’t be pushed about.  1-2 after taking the lead but the crushing reality of the class gulf will see the Bees home.

Spurs v Bournemouth - two from two,  are Spurs still Spursy? Put a pin that and we’ll reflect again n six weeks time.  Thomas Frank at the helm seems far less unhinged that the last bloke, who gave mainly ‘did you touch my beer?’ vibes.  Good match up and 3 from 3 feels very possible. 2-1

Wolves v Everton - poor start for the Old Gold while things are looking up for the Toffees, with their new stadium and new players.  0-1 and wee-Davie Moyes brings the good times back. 0-1

Leeds v Newcastle - a tough match looming after the last tough match for the Dirty Leeds. They might hold firm for long periods but a victory feels too remote of a prospect. 0-2

    Sunday

Brighton v Man City - not yet sailing away with the league as the media would prefer, the Filthy Seagulls face the inconvenience of having to play Citeh, whom they perceive as mere muggles next.  Naturally what plays out on the pitch will be way too sophisticated for the likes of you and me to understand.  And the 1-3 scoreline will simply be by design to sustain the illusion that the Filthy ones are not in fact part of the conspiracy. 1-3

Forest v West Ham - bad times at the Hammers will the manager hapless and the players revolting, not in the bad manners sense. Could and should be stroll for Forest to soak up the three points. 2-0

Liverpool v Arsenal - by rights the Gunners should waltz the PL this season now that they have the worlds greatest ever player, Eze. And the Reds have been leaky at the back so he might mark his debut with some goal action, too.  Should be a fun match, 2-2 probably the most likely, but a clear win either way could also manifest, it’s one of them games.

Villa v Palace - the mighty Eagles have surged in to the third tier, obscure, energy sapping Euro tournament this week.   We are unbeaten in 13 games, which is nice, but have a threadbare squad.  I can see us conceding none but not see us scoring many.  The Villains have been pretty flat too.  A yawning 0-0 on the cards, to end the week’s fun and games.

Admit it, you’re glad it’s back right?

Clean burning the XL in preparation for the holiday weekend. The mold inside was intense even with the bottom vent left open. I spared you all the nastiness. Gotta love the stifling humidity in the South.

I see what you did there 😏. We usually do pork or chicken, because you can't buy turkey bones here. Have you tried turkey stock? It blows the others out of the water.

I have an event tomorrow also, since I no longer have access to my eggs and smokers (at least until lawyer stuff happens) I’m improvising.  18hr sous vide then cube and do pork burnt ends tomorrow at the event. Currently coming up to temp, planning 160.

@Ozzie_Isaac I've configured an old cooler for sv but never used it. Given the big load, the ocd in me is wondering if there's any significant temp delta between the two diagonally opposite corners. I would stick an aquarium pump in it but that's just me.

  • Way to roll, @Ozzie_Isaac. Are you finishing in the oven, or on a grill?

I routinely use the setup you have employed and have never noticed any difference in cooking from one end of the cooler to the other. It is called a “circulator” and is equipped with an impeller, after all. When I use it, I can see it creating some movement in the water. I have no doubt there is some discrepancy, but I can’t imagine it’s too significant.

Researching the benefits of peptides. Someone recommended injectables as a way to delay/possibly eliminate the need for surgery on my ankle. Color me curious

I would like to note for the record that this isn’t my area of study… but a few years ago my doctor recommended a collagen peptide I could add to my coffee in the morning to aid in recovery of some old knee and hip joint sports injuries (I was a softball catcher and tennis player, not easy on the knees). I was also B12 deficient, which is common for Norwegian folks. I now have no joint pain and went from a cc B12 injection every 10 days to one every five weeks. I haven’t done any controlled trials, but for me it has been a huge quality of life game changing experience with little effort.

Looks like a camper shower.  Kramer made meals in his shower!  Even had a garbage disposal installed!  Your cooler is redundant. I guess there's less water to heat and circulate this way.

Whether you like it, hate it or just don’t give a damn, the Taylor Swift effect is real. My wife actually likes to have football on now. She even bought the NFL Sunday Ticket just to ensure that she can watch all the Chiefs games. So when she told me to get a bigger TV for the garage (our preferred Fall/Winter place to hang out) I jumped. 75” should be good.

@Battleborn -  As you have experienced, the knock-on impact has been real for the NFL since day one.  Roger Goodell owes them both for the market penetration.  How many concerts are now gonna be booked in NFL stadiums??  Talk about a revenue generator.
