What? A white male was a DEI pick?LGBE-1999, MBGE-2003, SBGE-2007
Midlothian, VA -
What I think is that calling her a “DEI candidate” totally diminishes her as an individual. She was the AG for the state of California, a US Senator, and then the Vice President. She was more than qualified to be there.REB17 said:You really think she was the most qualified? Seriously, in your heart of hearts.
Some of you guys have just lost your **** minds with this kind of “anti-woke” view of the world. You see it in everything and anything."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike
"The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand." - Deep Throat -
by drown out the noise i meant drown out the opposition noise. economists vouched for her plans over trumps but it wasn’t enough. that’s messaging for thinking people and she was bringing 80 page plans to a tiktok fight.

We are here and we are gonna pay across the spectrum. CHEETO only cares about saving his A$$ from jail (first priority-success) and then finessing revenge against the government entities that tried to hold CHEETO accountable for his actions. CHEETO doesn't give a da-n about anyone other than CHEETO and will ensure CHEETO is always the focus.
Why after nearly 250 years did we need the Supreme Court to roll in and decide Presidential immunity as requested by CHEETO??
I will finish here-the oath that the President of the United States takes upon entering office:
"Article II, Section I of the U.S. Constitution:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
He who takes the first good shot lives to write the patrol report, and so it is.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint. -
I am curious to know what would Trump had to have done for people not to vote for him? Let's ignore all the rapey and racist things; he is almost 80 and from a different generation when that was manly. Let's also ignore the threats of hanging generals and killing reporters; when you listen to the sound bites you can tell he didn't say it that blatantly, he beat around the bush and hinted at it, but didn't say it.
1. He stole Top Secret documents and showed them to various leaders across the middle east. Many who we would not consider allies.
2. He refused to give them back and said he could do whatever he wanted because he had been president.
3. He has direct ties to Putin and talks about dictators with reverence.
4. He has shown war plans and strategies to dictators.
Coming from that world, I would have been in jail, hell I could still be tossed in jail for disclosing things that have repercussions not even 1/1000th of that. This is my big hangup. We have spent trillions of dollars developing our war machine, and he just willy-nilly shows our secrets to enemies over cocktails because it is "cool". I remember a time when commies were the sworn blood enemy of the USA. When did that change? I feel like Trump could have got down on his knees and blown Putin while jerking off Kim Jon Un with one hand and Viktor Orbán with the other, and he still would have won.
To me that is an indictment of Kamala and her policies, which are an extension of Bidens. None of Trumps bad behaviors were hidden, hell he treated them like badges of honor. The Democrats lost this more than Trump won it. They lived in their own echo chamber and lost because of it. They continually discounted all the polls showing Trump in the lead and kept saying it was impossible for him to win. It is almost like they don't know Americans. They keep trying to remake America and they think we can be better than we are. Maybe Americans just don’t want to be or do better. Maybe they just want their fast cars, loose women, and the easy life.I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

it’s not a deficiency of the democrats plan. the democrats plans on any topic are good enough drafts to get to the table and make deals and move forward as a country.

both campaigned on fear of what the future will look like. one fear campaign resonated more than the other. the winning campaign appealed more to base survival instincts, loss of status and control, etc. when fighting your way out of a corner you don’t care as much about the person giving you a helping hand you just grab it. the losing campaign had all the correct data but data hits a different part of the brain than survival instincts.billt01 said:

In total, America is still the best country in the world by a long shot. there are several categories of concern but still #1. trump will strip mine it again for personal gain as much as he can. -
I think we have a tendency to want to find one big reason to explain events, regardless of what they are. It’s just kind of a human thing, to try and simplify a world that’s increasingly complex. All of that is to say that I think there are lots of reasons why Trump won the election. I see a lot of people here, on both the right and the left, who are all too eager to chime in and try and say it just confirms one of their priors.Battleborn said:

As I indicated earlier in the thread, my operating assumption for some time has been that Trump was going to win. I had lots of reasons for this belief, but frankly the main one was that there are lots of people who rightfully see things as being more expensive, and they are blaming the party in the White House for it. I don’t think that diagnosis on their part is correct, but it seems clear that’s what they believe. People hate inflation, and they want someone to blame for it. They have also been sold a bill of goods, because there is nothing in any one of the things Trump is planning to do that will cause prices to come back down to 2020 levels. If anything, what he’s proposing will exacerbate inflation.
I have a hard time believing that lots of Americans actually support some of the more cruel policies Trump has been advocating, like mass deportation. But maybe that’s just naïveté on my part. Time will tell."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

To hit with a blanket statement that all thoughts coming out of a party are the correct action is a bad view.
"Strip mining"...HA, international business in China has killed this countries economic ability to support its own. We can float, but that is all.
I can't speak for you, but the most people who have been happy with the last 4 years live in an insulated bubble where the economy doesn't pertain to their lifestyle. Their jobs are also secure and economic data or interest rates do not worry them about their paycheck. If you own a business or independently wealthy and don't need to leverage debt, congratulations...but that's not how the American machine works..
we should have been more concerned in the 80's when those little stickers started showing up on our purchases
"made in communist china" but that ship has sailed and we are where we are..

It’s great to be back. While I can’t speak for everyone, this is the first time in almost 4 years that I can afford internet. Something suddenly changed. Can’t quite put my finger on it but suddenly the ole bank account is a little greener. The daily burden is a little lighter. It’s as if peace and prosperity has started spreading throughout the land. Wonder what changed?JohnInCarolina said:It’s great to see so many old faces back here posting.Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.

To hit with a blanket statement that all thoughts coming out of
we agree on the leveraged debt point. people who do that willingly take on risk— then complain about risk. plenty of opportunities to get rich slowly but people want quick. the american machine isn’t all small business it is plenty of corporate. so lots of insulated people doing great. and the pitch was for corporations to share more with the middle class.
i said democrats had starting points for negotiating, not that they had best end state for all scenarios. the govt has to work and evolve and the unproductive stalemate republican approach of late was childish. -
I think we've become a nation with a very short attention span to the point that I wouldn't be surprised if single term presidents are more the norm going forward than they have been.More extreme partisanship means we vote less for solutions offered and more for emotions stirred up. We value the promise of quick panacea over the boring and increasingly unlikely prospect of taking a path that is directionally accurate and pursuing iterative improvement of a solution.
We have complex problems, but we abandon root cause analysis and leap at soundbite solutions for problems the majority of us do not comprehend well. If we were a business, we would fail quickly from lack of direction and commitment.THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER -

Trump has been a topic of convo for some time in my group of friends and acquaintances.
Two Interesting Items of note:
1. Most the people I know voted for Trump
2. Not a single person likes Trump as a human being.
Take that anecdotal information and do with it what you wish.I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.
