Waiting for new tire install at Costco, they just installed two complimentary nitrogen tire inflation stations. I was pleasantly surprised to see no credit card needed. Way better than customers blocking entrances to service bays to inflate previously.

I use a home nitrogen station, best I can do is 78% though.Canugghead said:Waiting for new tire install at Costco, they just installed two complimentary nitrogen tire inflation stations. Well played @Ozzie_Isaac . 78% is the nitrogen (N2) percentage of air.

After reading a few articles on the measured benefit of nitrogen in tires vs air, I quit the nitrogen. Not enough temp/pressure buffer for the hassle for me.THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER
-
Thanks @lousubcap and @Ozzie_Isaac . So the higher the concentration the better or is there a trade-off point?
canuckland -
There are a number of benefits to nitrogen in tires. More stable air pressure in regards to temperature changes (regular air pressure changes about 1 psi per 10deg f). Larger nitrogen molecules may bee less prone to leaking. Nitrogen does not support combustion, etc.Canugghead said:Thanks @lousubcap and @Ozzie_Isaac . For passenger car tires I wonder about the actual real world measurable benefit.I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Occasionally the skinny green kitchen waste bin gets knocked over by raccoons overnight, not pretty. Finally decided to do something about it, worked well last night... the blue bin (when filled) squeezes it against the curb, since it's already 'knocked over' by me the buggers don't get the benefit of the tip-over force. The stone presses the latch against the ground.
I was afraid the refuse man may refuse to move the stone but got lucky, I suppose it's easier for him to flip off the stone than having to disengage a fancy latch or bungee cord. The bin is usually less than half filled with bags of waste so they won't spill even if the latch disengages. Time will tell.

Not sure how it got in, Frank, but the fence isn’t airtight. It mostly keeps the deer out.lousubcap said:@JohnInCarolina how did it get in and how do you plan to enable it to leave?Or will we see a new "What are you chef-ing..." post?"I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

The best mitigation strategy I’ve found is simply to put the bins out as late as possible. Our bins generally get picked up around noon on Mondays, and so I put them out by about 8:30am the day of. Never the night before. Never had a single animal rummage through the waste bins in the three years we’ve been here. No complaints about eyesores from the neighbours either. 🙃Canugghead said:Occasionally the skinny green kitchen waste bin gets knocked over by raccoons overnight, not pretty. Totally agree, some neighbours wait till the morning of. Doesn't work for us though, as retirees and night owls we wake up way later than the collection timeGrateEggspectations said:

By the way, one of these days I'll figure out where you live with these intel: your favourite sandwich spot, bakery, pub, garbage collection day/time, IP address (I know a forum member can assist on that

This probably won’t surprise you, but I actually questioned whether I was putting too much out there in disclosing my waste collection schedule. Lol.Canugghead said:

I woke up this morning by the sound of banging and a rather large BANG, turned out to be a steel dumpster being delivered to my cross-the-street neighbor (she's cute) and a bunch of guys shoveling her roof into it.
They've replaced some (all?) of her particle-board roof, then stapling down cloth and other things. Its now 8:50 pm, and they're STILL at it, quite a slave driver company. I don't mind the noise, as its only a day or two.
8:57 now, the compressor has been shut down and it looks like they're packing up. Well past sundown.
Shingles tomorrow, I'm sure, and then I can sleep til noon again.

Also, I’ve always found “a rather large bang” is in fact the very best thing to wake up to. (Sorry, it’s my Friday.) -
@Botch - Here at the western edge of the eastern time zone sunrise is 6:30 AM and sunset 8:50 PM. But it all averages out-

We’re around the last bend and on to the home straight, finishing line in sight. It’s two from three at the top for the final Champions League sports and two from four at the foot, fighting to avoid relegation. What is for sure is that Southampton are down and City have one hand on the title. Elsewhere it’s playing for pride and £2m a place prize money. Sounds a lot but that equates to 1% of Man City’s annual player wage bill.
Saturday
Spurs v Brentford - despite the scoreline of 2-1 Spurs were played off the park last week at Villa, they need the season to end asap. The Bees will see this as a prestigious victory that keeps alive their chances of finishing above their illustrious London neighbours. 1-2 and no home fans stay to applaud the team off the pitch at the end.
Bournemouth v Man Utd - the Cherries are safe and put up little resistance against Palace last week. Utd need the points to stay in the CL places. 0-2
Fulham v Palace - should be fun as the Mighty Eagles fans take to the Thames for an end of season away day jaunt upstream to West London. The hosts have their talismanic striker back, so he’ll score at least once. Palace are scoring for fun too. 2-2 is the normal result for this fixture.
Liverpool v Villa - were this six weeks ago then an away win would be odds-on, but Big Jury has got the mojo flowing again at Anfield and the Scousers are in hot form and CL is potentially in scope if they win. I reckon they will. 2-1.
Wolves v Everton - sadly only a total rush of blood to the head by Wolves, who are safe and just can’t be bothered, will perpetuate the Toffee’s highly enjoyable existential crisis. Everton are in turmoil and frankly need relegating to shake the “we’re a big club’ nonsense. 0-1 and probable safety.
Forest v Arsenal - this is tricky for the home side who are the safest of the clubs in genuine danger of relegation. A win will keep them up with one to play. Whilst the Gunners are now nailed-on for second and you’d think more interested in holiday brochures, they only went and did the unforgivable last time and perpetuated the media narrative by letting the Filthy Seagulls beat them. Two losses on the bounce will hurt and so I fear for Forest. 1-3
Sunday
West Ham v Leeds - a classic match for enthusiasts of fighting and general disorder, not on the pitch but amongst the fans. The hosts have just qualified for an obscure Euro Final, which is lovely for them, and are safe. Leeds are far from safe and in a right pickle. Lose this while Everton win and they are properly staring down the barrel. But sheer anxiety could propel them to a last day show down next week. Nerve shredding 0-1.
Brighton v Southampton - you see what I mean? The Filthy Seagulls conspiracy (it’s not, it’s fact) rolls on. After a whacking by Toon last night that’s been wholly covered up in the press, they are gifted a free swing at the sunk Saints. Could be 74-0 for all I care. Shambles.
Man City v Chelsea - could have been a top two run-off for the title but the Chels have had a calamitous season of their own design. No hiccups, no issues, nothing to see here. Routine 3-0.
Monday
Newcastle v Leicester - Toon need one win for CL football next season and frankly the Foxes might as well field a team of lads picked from the crowd. They’ll likely be just as effective. Decent home win and it’s good-bye Leicester. 4-0.
Some jewels among the morass there. Stay strong, we’re nearly there.

Tried out a new to me lump this morning. We have a Thanksgiving it's Spring party tomorrow and needed to cook a turkey. It's distributed by Meadow creek, don't know who actually makes it. Reasonable size chunks, large and small.

It lit up fast. Back it down and ran at 310° give or take
Hour in I had lunch
One hour and fifty six minutes later done

It burned a third of the lump. Extremely mild smoke.
I'll add a wood chuck next time.
